BCS Era

  • I am writing my thesis for my MBA. My topic is statistical analysis. The question...What school has the best football program since the inception of the BCS. The objective is to show that statistics can be manipulated without changing the numbers to have several different outcomes.

So I pose the question to you....What school has the best football program since the inception of the BCS. Be unbiased with this and give reasons.

Why should we when the BCS itself doesn't?

Well in no shape form or fashion is or was Boise the best team this past decade and a half.

  • winning percentage is bogus...or tcu boise would be tops...they've done fine...screw stats...look at the eyeball test...teams like vatech feast on patsies for 10 plus wins a year and lose a bcs bowl annually. plus uniforms are nasty.

    lump them in tiers.
tier 1:...lsu, ohio st (yes i said it) uf, usc, ou, Bama, Texas. Titles mean something...Bama had a miserable era until Saban...put them in tier 1 based on titles won (2) and future (4 number 1 recruiting classes in 5 years)
tier 2...boise st, tcu, uga, fsu (again titles matter) auburn (titles matter) uga, oregon, michigan (on the rise)

    hubcitytider

  • if only picking 1 school...lsu based on titles and consistency...and think, gerry dinardo started it all...explode

I think WVU being 3-0 in BCS games has a claim before a couplw of those teams.

This is a really good post. I am interested in who you are a fan of...I am guessing Bama on your name.

Really unbiased and nice beef to your statements.

This is the black and white approach. When I argue the manipulation of statistics, this will obviously be one perspective that I can not ignore. It will be the foundation. Then when other factors are added in such as SOS and BCS wins/appearances, wins vs ranked teams, wins vs BCS team, conference 'ships, other perspectives will show through.
