BCS nc breakdown

  • Teams who control their own destiny

If any of these teams win out, then they are in, no questions asked.

    Notre Dame
    Alabama
    Georgia.

    Ready to pounce.
    Florida
    Oregon

Both teams *need USC to beat Notre Dame this week. If that happens and both of the above win out, then it will be extremely close as to which team plays the sec champ in the mnc game. Would need more info to say for sure which would get the edge, but as of now I would give the edge to Florida. Florida though will be a sizable underdog in their last game, while Oregon is a strong favorite.

    Outside looking in
    Kansas st
    a 1 loss Notre Dame
Florida St would need all kinds of help.

I don't think anyone else would have a realistic shot, but a 2 loss LSU team could sneak in if texas knocks off K state as well as losses by Notre Dame, Oregon, and Florida

  • Ok. Who gets in if:

UCLA loses to Stanford and Oregon loses to Oregon State and is 10-2.

Florida State wins out convingly but Clemson loses.

    Alabama wins.

Kansas State loses close to Texas in 2OT.

USC beats Notre Dame BAD...by like thirty.

    -----————---------—–-—-----------—------

It's gotta be Bama versus Florida State, right?

    that would certainly help.

LSU's most realistic chance to get into the mnc game

Notre Dame, Kansas St, Oregon, Florida would all have to lose.

Bama winning the seccg would help, south carolina over Clemson would help.

Notre Dame losing big would help a lot.

They would also probably want Michigan to beat Ohio St.

FSU would be #2 in the polls if that were to happen, not sure if that is enough to keep them up in the bcs. If LSU is #3 in the human polls, their computer number would be enough to put them in over FSU. Teams that would be behind LSU and ahead of FSU in the computers. Oregon St, Stanford, Oregon, Florida, Oklahoma, Notre Dame. Could be others, and that is already way too much ground to be made up.

What if Georgia Tech and Clemson beat their respective SEC rivals? Would that have a big effect on FSU in the computers?

  • For FSU to get into the mnc game, and let's say that Georgia beats Ga Tech, LSU beats Arkansas, and Bama beats Auburn.

    They would need:

Oregon, Florida, Kansas St, and Notre Dame to all lose
    Clemson over South Carolina
Stanford and ucla to each beat each other once
    Oklahoma St over Oklahoma.

Even after all of that, it would be very close. Georgia Tech pulling the upset over Georgia, then Georgia winning the SEC and all of the above happened, then FSU moves to #1 in both polls, closes a bunch of distance in the computers and is in for sure.

They would pretty much need that to happen, then have Georgia beat Bama in the seccg.

  • That's nuts they need so much. Poor Noles. Screwed over by one extra FCS game on short notice.

I mean. If the ACC just not sucked a little more dick this year and they played WVU instead of Savannah State, they'd be looking real close right now. Instead they get to go to Miami for the Orange Bowl to play a Big East team. lol

Believe we've been here before 73 and 74 ring a bell? ND and Bama most AP NC's at 8. ND 5-1 vs Bama. Will not talk much more about the possibility until we get past USC. They've tripped us up 3 times when we were heavily favored and headed for NC.

They really got screwed by VPI sucking so much OOC, and the other division champ Ga Tech getting blasted OOC by BYU, and losing to Middle Tenn St. Had Georgia Tech and VPI won their OOC games, the ACC would not be getting nearly as punished by the computers as they are.
