Bama has recruited exceptionally well at all positions

  • over the past two years except for their dismal hauls on the OL. What gives?

  • I wouldn't call it dismal, we have landed 3 five stars...although Love sucks. Some pretty dang good 4 stars as well. It could def be better though.

Lebron James is easily the best basketball player in the league currently...

I'm not sure but I like the results from the scrub OLineman we do have commit. Our OL coaching has to be the best in the country. Of course, we are gonna have 2 five star tackles on the line to go along with the Outland trophy winner next year. We just haven't had much of a need this year or last. I expect to sign the best or 2nd best OL class in the country this year.

  • That seems to be the position that our lower rated guys end up performing better than expected. This years line should be fantastic, but we'll lose most of it after this season. I'm hoping all those long-term backups pan out, otherwise, we'll have some baby-faces on the line for 2013. We have recruited several highly rated guys over the past few years, but also a lot of "projects" with nice size. You'll see us go hard after a ton of linemen this year.

Replace Bama with FSU and this thread wouldn't skip a beat.

They can't be expected to win the Naty every year can they? Saban has that program humming. He's won two of the last three with vastly different teams. As long as the Saban is piloting the ship they'll manage.

2nd best it is slap. Michigan will have #1. Fox, Bosch, Tuley-Tillman, Dawson. We will probably add another. Hoping it is Pocic.

That's what seperates the Bama's, USC's, OSU's, Michigans from the rest of the peasants.

If I"m not mistaken, 3 out of 4 of our OL commits had Bama offers(Dawson, Bosch, LTT) correct?

    How do you figure?

If CyKo gets injured we slide BJ over to LT and move Lindsey or Luatua in at C. Same for RT.

Actually at RT we might move up Arie K. or Austin Shephard and leave BJ at Center.

Next year is the year we might should be concerned about depth wise.

We'll have Cyko at one T, and probably Arie K. or Shephard at the other but a Rs. Fr. might be backing up one spot.

Bama offers 200 kids a year.

    Can't get them all.

No doubt, just wanted confirmation. Regardless, Bama is still gonna have a top 3 class when its all said and done. Both of our programs futures are extremely bright! Can't wait for the match-up next year..its on!

True that, someone thinks they have already signed these guys. A commit at this point in the game means nothing more than your team leads for that individual. Alot of people on here get too caught up in the star rankings.

  • I know Tigger is just trolling again, but im gonna reply to the OP anyway. Our oline was the best in the country a year ago, and it returns everyone but our center. Its harder to get the top tier guys when you cant sell them immediate playing time, when they know they have no shot of being a starter. For one, you are saying our Oline recruiting is dismal because you are basing our recruits talent on how many stars they were given. I'll trust Sabans judgement over any sportswriter any day of the week.

  • After the 2012 season we will have 4 OL's go in the first round of the draft in the past 5 years.(Andre Smith, James Carpenter, Barrett Jones, and DJ Fluker) Two of those players were Outland Trophy winners. After that, saying he progresses like everyone expects, Cyrus Kouandjio will be the 5th OL to go in the first round in past 6 years. That's almost one OL in the first round a year. I'd say that is a pretty good average, wouldn't you? Is there a program out there with a better current resume in the same time frame? I'd say there isn't and it's not even close. Here is a breakdown of our OL's on campus right now in star rankings:

    5*- 3
    4*- 4
    3*- 6

One 5 star (Love) is a bust, but two three stars are starting. One of those three stars is projected as a 2nd round pick and the top guard prospect in the 2013 draft by a few services. William V, our departing center, was a three star and started 3 years as an anchor on two NC teams. I would venture to say that while there might be a team out there that has recruited better than us on the OL in the past 4 or 5 years, there is not many. Our OL coaches have been great and we get the most out of our guys. The facts above show that.

But I'm pretty sure that recruiting services base their star rankings on who Coach Nick mutha trucking Saban offers.
