Bama vs. Michigan - early predictions after Spring games

  • I just caught a few video snippets on Bama's A-Day game, but have looked at the stats and comments on the 1st Team Defense's performance and I'm gonna say Little Ol' Shoelace is gonna have tough day vs. the TIDE. I doubt he's ever seen so much speed at LB outside of watching TV on Sundays.

    MICH - 10

I'm thinking something along the lines of 28-17 Bama.

    Bama 72 - Mich 1.

Robinson hasn't seen as much talent on the field even in an NFL Pro Bowl.

  • Michigan looked pretty good. It will be a great game. Can't wait to see two traditional powers go at it.

  • I think Bama has to be favored, but first game and all, it will be close. Something like 34-27.

    That's what I was thinking. 27-17 actually.

Should be a lot of fun either way. I love what Hoke is doing, but I admit I am a little more excited to see what things are going to look like at Michigan in 2013, when we see what the Borges offense is really going to look like, as they are still kind of running a hybrid offense to still feature Denard's talents. I just hope we keep him in the pocket and make him have to make conventional decisions at the position.

Denard worries me more with what he will do in the pocket on the run with a big play down the field to a WR than what he does scrambling. We have the speed to contain him running but, it is much tougher to cover 3 WR's for more than 4 or 5 seconds, IMO.

they're not scoring 27...Bama 27-6...somewhere in that area. but these made for tv games tend to be closer...although boise whipped uga

    Michigan - 17

    Bama - 9

Defense scores on a pick six and a safety.

If Denard stays in the pocket he is 10x more dangerous because he is a threat to run and pass at the same time since he isn't tipping his hand. We'll see about the score, it will be closer than most think, Michigan returns a lot.

Bama is also going to be breaking in a new defense and in the first game of the year they will struggle.

Does Michigan have a featured running back? Who would that be? How are their special teams? I only saw them once last year. I remember Robinson but not the supportinng cast.

Bama's defense isn't as new as you think...guys that contributed last year are starting this year...4 number 1 recruiting classes in 5 years and a top 5 class two years ago have left the cupboard stocked.
Probably the best o line in the country returning...AJ will light up the michigan defense, get them tired...then Bama will pound them with the rbi's...um will be good eventually...but not in Bama's class...yet.

Starter is a RS Junior, Fitgerald Toussaint. Had over 1000 yards last, 5.6 ypc if I remember correctly.

Backup is a Soph, Thomas Rawls. Didn't see much action last year, but has been hard to bring down this spring. Passed a senior on the depth chart for the #2 spot. Scored 2 tds in the spring game.

Yes, we are returning starting RB Fitz Toussaint who had over 1000 yards last season, gaining most of those yards in the last six games of the season. Our special teams is average, we have a kid who can boom it on field goals but he doesn't have the accuracy as our other kicker. Our punter has unlimited potential but he is extremely inconsistent. We lack a special team returner though, but may be gaining one with Dennis Norfleet.

Michigan returns their whole back seven, you won't be able to "light up" Michigan's defense.

You're doing it. Prepare to be told how wrong you are and how bama will pass for 750 on your wolverines.

don't you have a young auburn tiger football team to follow? i thought you would be on your way to church like the rest of the auburn family.

Michigan returns it's entire back 7, back 8 if you count the nickel. I hope Bama comes out throwing, that will play into Michigan's strength this year. Running right at Michigan is the way to go. They replace both starting DTs and the SDE. The starting WDE from last year is moving to SDE and his backup is moving to the 3-tech DT spot. Both are hoping to add 10+ lbs before Sept. 1st.

I will put Michigan's starter up against anybody, depth is where RichRod killed us. 3 years from now this game would be epic, and hopefully we will see it in Jan. then.

  • I think UM will have to roll up a safety to help contain the run, which will lead to open TEs and slot WRs. It may be dink-and-dunk at first, but I expect AJ to have a big game if for no other reason than Michigan can't stop the run with their front 4.

that's why they play the game...we will see....the braxton miller led buckeyes put up over 30 on you on the road...pretty sure AJ and a superior team will do some more damage...
36th in passing efficiency defense last year for michigan...not exactly stellar...17 in total d...not great either.

I feel this game would be awesome 2014 and beyond. Michigan will have 2 top 10 classes through the system with another coming in that fall. It is what it is though.

    My heart says, 24-20 Michigan.

    My head says, 31-17 Bama.

I think Michigan will keep it closer than most people expect. I think the game might be 24-10 with Alabama winning. However, I think the final score might be closer than the actual game because I still think Alabama has more talent at nearly every position on the field.
