    We've had quite a few games where the starting QB didn't finish,haven't we?('11 LSU,'11 UF,'10 MichSt games come to mind). I'd love to add Michigan to that.

  • For what it's worth Zabba and the rest of the USC fans,

    I honestly think that your a legit top five team this year and have as good of a chance as anyone to make it to the championship game. I'm always going to say that Bama is a bit better, for obvious reasons, but I would love to see the game (if it happened knock on wood) but we have a gauntlet to get through first.

    Not at all sayin our D is at bamas level, but as for though stats, we had an extremely young D. At the end of the year, they were a much much better D than in the beginning. I mean, our starting back 7 had 3 jrs, 3 freshman and a sophmore.

    this is true.

    usc averaged giving 23.6 pts/g (#45 overall) over the whole season, but in nov (final 4 games) that average dropped by about 1 td to 17.3 pts/g (top 15 in nation for that time period, would have been #6 overall if done the whole season).

    that included:
    oregon - great offense
    washington - good offense (top25)
    ucla - bad offense (87)
    colorado - terrible offense (109)

    against winning teams, they gave up just under 25 pts/g
    against top 25 teams, they gave up 45 pt/g (but those were oregon and stanford, both top 7 in scoring in nation).

    .

    conversely, bama's offense averaged 34.8 p/g (20th) over whole season, but in nov dropped to 29.3 p/g (one of those was the 6-9 game vs lsu).

    those included games vs:
    lsu - great defense
    miss state - good d (#16)
    auburn - bad d (78th)
    ga southern - d1aa, so we'll say bad, lol

    against winning teams, bama scored 28 p/g
    against ranked teams bama scored 21.7 p/g (2 of these 3 games were against lsu, with arguably one of the best defenses in the last several years)

    not sure what all that means. most likely, nothing, lol. just thought i'd look up the stats.

    That was on Pete's lack of discipline.

    This staff wouldn't let that happen as shown by the house cleaning since last year. There were three main malcontents and they're all gonzo.

    Not to say we won't lose to an inferior team because that happens to many teams every season and especially because USC will be favored in every game this season.

    I really hope we get to play this game for all the marbles and EVERYONE in the country except USC's Coaches, players and fans believe we have no chance.

    I also got a big kick out of the LSU guys on here crowing about how bad ass they are. If my team had laid a turd like theirs did last January, as in not even showing up for a National Championship game that was basically at HOME, I wouldn't be so cocky.

    But that is the Corndog way I guess.

    And the Bama fan who said their Tight Ends are better than USC's, obviously hasn't watched very many USC games, or been following USC's recruiting very closely

    I have tons of respect for Bama and Coach Saban. Only SEC team that most Trojans respect without qualification, because they are the only SEC school with any REAL tradition over the last century.

    Let this game happen and if we don't win, it just shows us we have more work to do to get back to the top, but I would like our chances.

    Right now Bama is at the pinnacle and someone is going to have to come really hard to knock them off.

    Might as well be USC

  • It's a toss-up right now imo, Saban is always strong defensively but Lane is a big time playcaller who'll find a mismatch and expose it. Even if it means throwing to the same player 15-20 times............I just don't know, it would be an epic showdown. Could come down to a field goal again.

  • Kiffin did a lot of talkin while at Tennessee and rubbed people the wrong way, but I'll be the first to say that I'm glad that he left because I think he's a great coach and would've been a major problem on the recruiting front.

    If it does come down to a field goal, or TD, I think it will be a hellova lot more exciting when you pit two programs who's star power are on opposite sides of the ball.
