    It's not a machine gun. It's a semi auto.

My friend as fully auto weapons though. He also has all the federal creds and permits to have them. And he is well educated. He is also packing heat everywhere he goes. Has a permit for that as well. It's to bad a person like that wasn't in that school that day. Most those kids would still be alive.

BTW, I'm former military. Was in the Navy, but trained by the Marine Cadre. Worked Auxiliary Security Force.

    Stood armed and protected bases.

Yea. I know right? Of the 62 mass murders since 1982, not one has been stopped by a CCL. Odd..

Yes, and actually I believe that's were most our problems are coming from. A lack of God in this country.

We have safety measures put in for most of those listed.

Most aren't calling for the 2nd amendment to be eliminated. Most just want automatic and semi automatic guns away from the general population.

    Do semi-automatic hunting rifles count?

I appreciate your service and respect your opinion but those types of gun with the general public is scary.

Also what's your thoughts on having armed guards on schools. Had the discussion with a friend who served. I think it would be too traumatizing for the kids. Besides the fact we likely couldn't afford it

Lol. But you don't mention all those that weren't mass murders that would have been.

And that isn't due to Obama or any other president.

Simply a change in the culture and I don't mean immigrants.

That is almost impossible to measure and irrelevant to the fact that the proposed measures are to stop mass murders not all gun crime.

    1. You didn't answer my question. Why do you need a "semi" machine gun?

Well if that's the case why don't we limit our law enforcement and military to small magazines. Since they'll be JUST as effective, I'm sure they won't mind.

Thats actually a pretty good point, why do THEY need them? When was the last time our police force had to use a 30 round clip? I mean they are just protecting themselves from a bad guy or two most times, thats just overkill right?

9/11 was a mass murder, no guns

So? The build up to 9/11 encompassed many illegal activities leading up to the actual killing, owning a gun isn't illegal.

yes, taking gun rights will not/has not worked. Id be for an alternative solution, we have some bright people in this country, we can come up with something other than taking away freedoms.

One I heard today was stationing a military person or two in every school in America for 6 month rotations, on the surface I like it, ready made trained security that would not cost any extra money and IMO their presence alone would cause a mass murdering coward to think twice before trying out a school.Same concept as Marshals on planes.

  • Plan on getting me an AR-15 soon. Maybe for an after-Christmas gift to myself. Ever since getting out of the marines, I've been itching to shoot again.

Was a 4 time expert shooter on the range. Need that hobby back.

    1) We can not afford this
    2) Think about how this would affect the children. That's traumatizing.
    3) Every school shooter goes in with the intent that they will take their own life.
    4) If the shooter were to identify an area where he could isolate his target, the military person would be slow to respond.

point is, you cant stop a person/people who are determined to kill you no matter what law you put in place or what weapon you ban, its folley, they will simply find another way to do it. But you libs dont get that, head is too far up governments behind thinking it will save you.

Over simplification and attacking liberals is not helping your argument.

Yes you can stop a person who intends to kill. And that is what we have to work on as a country. Whether it means laws against automatic guns, or more safety in school, or better care for those who may be deranged.

also i don't define myself by liberal/conservative and I'm split pretty damn evenly between both parties ideologies.
