  • Sorry couldn't find the videogame thread and this youtube video may not last long. I know there are a ton of BC2 fans here and know you would want to see this. Again, this is alpha footage from testing going on right now. This is in no way a finished product.

  • BF3 at an alpha stage has better graphics than COD. Thats sad. That is what happens when developers actually upgrade their engines every 6 years though. This is the 3rd new engine(Frostbite, Frostbite 1.5, and now Frostbite 2.0) that DICE has implemented in its last 3 games.

    Anyone notice the absence of hit markers? Also, that guy wasn't making an effort to revive anyone. Bad teammate, IMO. Cooter would have been running out there guns a blazin' trying to revive those fallen Marines!!!

  • It looks like vehicle perks may be upgraded on a vehicle to vehicle basis if this shot holds true.

    You have to wonder if the guy had the option to revive at that point. I saw the icon on the screen to revive but if it's like BC2 he may not have had the paddles yet because of his class progression. At least I didn't see them in the video anyway.

    Yea hit markers are definitely in there. Watch the first video I posted in 720. The other videos might be harder to spot because of the lower def settings. Also, the hit markers aren't as big as BC2 and they seem to be transparent which is nice when shooting at someone you rather see their face instead of a white "x"

    I would really like that. This footage looks really good. I hope there are still some big wide open maps. I am sure that there is I just haven't got to see any footage from that type of map yet.

    By the way I have been thinking of making a thread for just Battlefield 3. We could just edit the title of this thread and make this the BF3 thread. We are going to talk so much about this game that I think it is going to need its own thread.

    Yea the footage looks pretty great right now. I imagine you'll see a larger map and probably this metro map in the beta. I'm guessing that they're probably just trying to nail down some infantry type balance issues before they look at the larger maps with mass vehicles. The best thing about seeing the footage right now in alpha, it will look so much better once it's on the store shelves.

    Yeah I wonder about that too. That might have just gave the support class the assault icon. They are going to be the ones handing out ammo packs so they basically switched.

  • My only worry with BF3 has nothing to do with gameplay. I know DICE will deliver top notch gameplay like they always do(minus Medal of Honor, thats doesn't count).

    My worry is, how many maps? Thats it. How many maps will the game ship with? BC2 only had 8 maps at the beginning, and that isn't enough. I know the maps are enormous, but you still need more than 8 maps to keep the repetition to a minimum.

    DICE sent out emails that th owners of MOH LE will receive the BETA early. Not sure how early, but earlier than everyone else.

    They talked about the maps and follow-up dlc maps in an interview on a game site a little before E3 this year. What they said about BC2 was that they were honestly surprised how popular it was. Their estimations were way off for it and they didn't plan on the player base being so large and didn't think they would stay around as long as they did. Because of this they didn't have enough dlc to go along with it and that's why we only received the "mode packs" with new rush/conquest iterations of maps we already had. Then of course the redone BC1 maps along with heavy metal.

    Haha yep, I have that and a friend who is a Gamestop manager that told me he would be able to give me a beta code if I needed one. I'm pretty well set for the beta.
