    The nationals have fans?

Yeah, lots of former O's fans and washington had been dying for a baseball team

I love the name, colors and new ballpark

Living in VA for the better part of the last dozen years (until last year), it amazed me to watch all my friends who were Redskins fans. Every year was "the year".... every year they had potential talent.... every year they blew. It was agonizing to watch them blow.

Now, having spent my impressionable years in SoFla, I grew up a Dolphins and Heat fan.... so as far as football goes, I am very familiar with that feeling. But damn they just get so hyped every year and almost always by about week 8, they say they don't give a damn anymore and don't talk about the Skins all week long... but come game day, they are right back into it, only to be disappointed again.

The thing is, I am an O's fan and nothing makes me feel worse (okay, exaggeration) than seeing people who used to care about the Orioles make the switch. Stick with your team people, through good and bad. Casual Fans=fine. People who didn't care before=fine. But I can't imagine leaving a team after supporting them for all those years.

  • Terps-
ACC champs (everything must go right, but there is always a chance with O'Brien as your starter if FSU losing some unexpected ones)
Losing season- Can't see worse than 5-7. Only an injury to O'Brien and something weird could make it worse.
New systems being installed on both offense and defense. (in Gary Crowton and Todd Bradford we trust)

    I hear that

Angelos ran them off, I also never cared for the O's but always would go to games when I was young

Most hated that drive from the DMV all the way to B-More to see a team that wasn't even in contention

  • 1) Upset OU, keep an even head and win the MNC.

    2) Injuries cost the wheels to completely fall off and we lose to OU, UF, Miami and Clemson. I think I would go play in traffic if that happened. Just lie right down on I-10

    3) I'll have to say OL. Lot of guys coming back from minor surgeries and adding new starters. We are facing 4 or 5 D-lines that should be very good this year. All it takes is wetting the bed once or twice to cause major problems.

  • Alright...here goes...

    1. Best Case=
One of the QB's that we have steps up and produces at a slightly better than Chris Todd level. Dyer stays healthy and is a horse. We only see a slight drop off in production. We finish 9-3 and second or third in the west.

    2. Worst Case=
We take a step back and finish 7-5. We'll have one of the most talented teams in the country, but youth will show across the board. We struggle to score in SEC games ala Chris Todd after he hurt his shoulder.

    3. We're replacing 4 starters on the O-line, but get our best tackle (Moseley) back for his senior year. 3 other positions will be filled by guys who have playing experience, just not starting. Dismukes steps in at Center, and Westerman makes a push at another position. We lost our top 3 DT's. That'll suck. Our secondary loses a lot. We lose experience across the board defensively but replace it with talent.

    1. Best case scenario ... 9-3 during the regular season to win the sec east for the first ever Tennessee vs Alabama sec championship game match up.
    2. Worst case scenario ... 6-6 record regular season with two losses as heartbreaking as the lsu and north Carolina losses were....
    3. Youth... Team is still very very young. There is talent in several areas, but it's not deep. Not enough talented seniors to help survive a brutal sec schedule. Dooley needs one more year and a lot of growth in a hurry from his young squad.

Orangeasylum hit it on the head here for us vol fans.

  • I dont think anything could be as heartbreaking as the LSU game. Miles used his probably altering Longshot powers to suck Dooley up in a vortex of stupidity. I do hope Les never gets fired though. I'd watch that dude coach pee wee football. You never know what is going to happen.

  • 1) Best Case Scenerio: New QB AJ Mccarron or Phillip Sims lives up to their hype from the get and helps Alabama to a dominating offensive performance with future heisman winner trent richardson on their way to a 14-0 Naitonal Championship.

    2) worst case scenerio: is losing Julio Jones hurts us in ways beyond the passing game. Not only was he great at taking a double team and still be productive but he was an amazing asset to our running game. Julio was a wide reciever who can block like a tight end. Losing him could hurt our recieving core as well as the run game but worst case scenerio is losing to penn st early and losing to lsu. 11-2 worst case

    3) ^^^ same as above

Considering OU's performance in BCS games, I don't know how winning one could be a WORST case scenario . . .

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

So you list 12-1 as worst case scenario...then immediately list a worse scenario in the next sentence.

    Good job.

    I don't get the picture.

It's WVU beating 2 heavily favored opponents in BCS bowl games, one of which is Oklahoma, which WVU won by an impressive 20 points.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

No offense, and not trying to flame, but you went 9-3 last year with a Senior QB, Julio Julio, Mark Ingram, Marcel Dareus, etc.

You are starting a new QB, which hasn't even been decided yet, and you have some issues at WR.

You really think 10-2 regular season is the "worst case scenario"

    1. 10-2 (Gilbert loses his job)
    2. 5-7 (Gilbert keeps his job)
    3. Garrett Gilbert is the worst QB in the Mack Brown era. We'll suck in general until he is gone or benched.

I don't think GG needs to be replaced for this team to do well. He just needs to improve to the mediocre range and not be the worst QB in all of D1.

I agree with this. Texas also needs a running game and their D needs to toughen up

  • 1. 14-0 is a possibility, a tiny possibility, but still possible.

    2. 7-5 Same old Spartans, begins Dantonio's downfall out of EL and we start over again.

    3. Offensive line.

  • 1. 11-2, win a BCS bowl
    2. 8-5. Same record as last year despite 19 returning starters
    3. QB. While not a question as to if ND can win with who they have but who is it? Also, RB is severely depleted so if one goes down who backs the next guy up.
