Katy (Texas) Seven Lakes offensive guard Caleb Benenoch saw his stock soar this spring and summer but he ended the recruiting process on Monday by committing to UCLA.

  • So much for Sparty fans saying he de-committed to stay close to home.

Well, that seemed to be his original intention. He was mostly interested in Oklahoma, Texas, and Baylor. But then UCLA came into the picture. It's pretty clear now that he committed to MSU without having fully researched his options. Oh well. Life goes on. Glad he's happy where he committed.

Seems to be a common theme for all recruits these days. Shame IMO.

That's why we need an early signing period. Are you positive you want to go there? Ok, here's your LOI. It would also take a lot of the "sleaze" out of the recruiting process, as there would be fewer attempts to flip recruits.

How do we contact the NCAA about this?

Go to Dave Brandon's office and pick up the red phone. No need to dial.

Hah he actually wanted to go to A&M but he waited too long and his ship sailed.

  • early signing would be stupid..why lock this kids into a program they don't want to play for..Feb is well enough in advance of the fall

The idea is that you would only have kids commit early if they actually were sure. If you're not sure, you can wait until February. No big deal.

Basketball recruits seem plenty sure at that point...

Yep, but I'm glad UCLA beat out Baylor.

Lol. This kid has 'wanted to go' to at least 5 schools.

    He committed to MSU.
    Was a lock to Stanford.
    Was a lock to Texas.
    Favored Oklahoma.
    Wanted to go to Baylor.
    Committed to UCLA.

    A&M is nothing special.

Honestly, I still won't fully believe UCLA until he signs on the dotted line.

  • Maybe a UCLA fan can answer this, but why is UCLA still accepting OL commits? Are they expecting some flips? I know Lacy has been looking around, but as of now, there are 7 OLs in UCLA's 2013 class.
