  • Michigan State returns 4/5 DBs who got any significant time last year. Those 4 combined for 12 interceptions and were part of the #11 pass defense last year.

    Macks

  • Safety

    5 star - Karlos Williams
    5 star - Lamarcus Joyner
    4 star - PJ Williams
3 star - Terrance Brooks ( like Bush said he was incredibly under-rated )

    CB

    5 star - Greg Reid
    4 star - Nick Waisome
    4 star - Ronald Darby
    4 star - Colin Blake
    3 star - Tyler Hunter
3 star - Xavier Rhodes ( starter, was 3 star WR coming in )
    3 star - Keelin Smith

That is pretty much who has a chance of PT this year..... Blake and Darby could redshirt

  • FSU isn't in the top tier. We are good but not elite. IMO we are being overrated (just like last year) at this position.

    CB - Greg Reid

Bang/Bust player. He may cause a fumble or let a 50 yard TD go.

    CB - Xavier Rhodes

The vanilla icecream of DBs. He's got great size and is good but rarely makes a splash play.

    S - LaMarcus Joyner

Baller. Best player in our secondary but is short. He is really good.

    S - Terrence Smith

Very good but not consistent enough yet. Has potential to break out this year.

When it's all said and done IMO FSU is a 10-20 best in the nation kind of DB group.

    Agreed

Im hoping Darby or Waisome can be all that Rhodes and Reid aren't

Rhodes is one of the most over-rated Noles I can ever remember, good player but most of the Noles act like he is Patrick Peterson

  • Tie between LSU and Bama. Eric Reid will be the #1 Safety when he comes out. The Badger may not be the best cover corner, but his playmaking ability can't be denied... and I'm sure they have solid depth.

Bama has Milliner who could be a top 1-3 Corner in the draft next year. Probably the #2-3 safety will be back as well. We shouldn't use the star system as comparison because Bama would win that argument, but Mo Claiborne was a 3 star, right?? So it doesn't matter in this argument IMO.

As for FSU... I should know more about them if they do ANYTHING this season. If they suck again, I could care less how good their DB's are.

I am as big of a Bama fan as anyone on here but it's homer talk to say that Milliner is a 1-3 Corner in the draft next year. I know you said "could" but he didn't show me anything on the field that merits that much confidence. He has the talent to do so but until he shows it on the field that is a bit of a stretch.

Measurables? Speed? Im not sure either but early mock drafts and some other people think he is a first-rounder. Being a secondary player under Saban probably helps.

    I agree on Rhodes.

I like him and i think he is a pretty damn good CB...but everyone was talking about him goin pro after last year (His SOPHOMORE year). and not just going pro...but being a first rounder.

I was like...for real? Rhodes? wtf man?

Probably but he just hasn't shown it to me on the field is all I'm saying. I know that he was a true freshman in 2010 but he was a liability that year and didn't start last year. He has the ability but he's going to have to prove it on a consistent basis this year before I'll call him a first rounder IMO.

I really want to see what HCD and Fulton can do. They both looked real good during the A-Day game. Sunseri and Lester have proved that they are going to be good and have done it in games on a consistent basis. Sunseri less than Lester but I've never seen Sunseri as a liability when he's had the opportunity to play. I think Depriest and Hubbard are going to be All-American type players as well but I'm starting to digress by bringing up LB'rs.

I really don't remember Fulton much in the spring game. I only watched it once live, though. That could be a good thing---no big mistakes--and a bad thing---no positive plays.

It's going to be interesting with HCD and Collins being on campus. Both are such highly regarded safeties. HCD had the extra year, though.

Sunseri is going to be a stud for all four years at Alabama. He probably won't play in the NFL, but he is so smart and such a football player he just gets it done. I love that kid (no homo).

Yeah both of us handed out more than a few WTF's on that one

Are fans are so crazy sometimes lulz

Dude had like 2 picks last year, just cause Jimbo made the comment one time when he was young about being an NFL'er our fans figured he was worth his weight in gold

Like you said, good player.... lots still to be proven and he can be so much better than he has been so far

    That's because he's 6'1, 210, 40 inch vert, and runs a 4.4something.

He's a pretty good corner, and will be a Top 3 corner in the draft. He's not elite by any means, but there's a reason teams throw at Greg Reid more.

No doubt, he is So Fla too which adds a little luster for the scouts imo

I think he has a great season, little fragile but hopefully it all comes together

He is capable of being the best corner on the team by a healthy margin and that isn't a knock of anybody else

He just can be that good

Do you think he gets significant playing time? I think he can get there. I just don't think he'll play much at all.

Hard to say when he's only a true Sophomore. He just seems like one of those three star guys that was WAY undervalued when it came to recruiting. There are a lot of white guys at LB'r and so on that weren't highly recruited in high school that are studs in the NFL now. I think he is going to be one of those guys but it's only a guess. Maybe not the most athletically gifted player when it comes to speed or vertical jump but can just play the game. He can hit like hell as well which is big for a safety. Seems to be real good in coverage as well.

Kid just plays the game with a mean streak and purpose. I'm the first to admit that I didn't see it when we accepted his commitment. The first time he got into a game though, I changed my tune real quick.
