Best Game Atmosphere you Have Ever Been to...

I used to go to UT games at Neyland in the 90s. That place and your fan base is nuts.

Appreciate the compliment. They certainly know how to lose it when they get motivated. Lately it's been pretty dull unless we are playing a big rival. Then after the first gut punch, they pull out of it. They are about as fragile as the players. I certainly miss how exciting games used to be at Neyland, but they'll get it back.

My ex-husband graduated from UT which is why I attended so many games. I will never forget the first time seeing all the cars painted in orange and white checkerboard with the orange T....I was amazed. I was also at the 98 Fiesta bowl...good for all you Vols, not so good for my Noles.

  • The best combination of quality, excitement, and atmosphere that I have ever been to was TCU at Baylor this past season. An absolutely amazing game to be a part of.

    Michigan @ PSU 06'- Michigan's D knocks out 2 PSU QB's.

OSU @ PSU 05'- The atmosphere at that game was just insane.

Was at both games. Hated the sinking feeling of Henne (from our own backyard) and company.

OSU @ PSU 05 was one of the loudest, most intense games ever to be played prob. That was the first student whiteout (and the night when Kirk Herbstreit called the students the best in the country). PSU was just coming off the "dark years" and were finally playing good football and ranked, so people were pumped. Add that it was a night game in Beaver Stadium and it being OSU, the stage was set. Pretty much the whole stadium (not just the students) were standing. The Alan Zameitis INT and the Tamba Hali sack at the end on Troy Smith was so loud, I thought the stadium was gonna fall from the jumping.

The difference from this game and other loud games, is that it was loud throughout the entire game, not jsut a few plays.

Some OSU players talked about that game and said it was the toughest environment they ever played in (see video below about their comments on that game).

I actually sat in the OSU section for that game and had some good banter with OSU fans, but they were classy when it was over and we wished eachother luck there on out. Wish OSU wouldve beat Texas that year.

1997 Michigan v Ohio St in the Big House. I've been to close to 80 games at Michigan Stadium and I've never heard it as loud as when Woodson returned that punt. Last year's Michigan v ND "Under the Lights" game was pretty damn close.

1997 UM-OSU for me. My freshman year. Amazing experience that I'll never forget.

Unfortunately I didn't get to go to UTL because my wife was going through chemo last fall, but I watched every play on TV and I bet it was awesome to be there. And now she's cancer free!

Easily for me it was the ND-USC Bush Push Game of 05. Many ND fans that was the most anticipated game since the early 90's. Place was rocking and ND played a hell of a game, but the refs screwed them over at the end. Great Great Experience

    Tell yours

I was there. That was unreal.

not sure I believe the part about it having the largest crowd at gameday at that time. but I have not proof that says otherwise. Just have a hard time believing that one.

Said it was something like 6000+ at Gameday. I remember them saying in the broadcast "one of the largest crowds we've ever seen here on the set."

  • 1. Bama - LSU in NOLA. As far as gameday atmospheres, nothing comes close. Playing a rematch of an OT game, playing a rival for the national title, second #1 vs. #2 matchup of the season...then throw in the fact that it was in LSU's backyard and Bourbon Street was an absolute zoo on Gameday (crazier than when I was down there for Mardi Gras) and it was just perfect. The Superdome was electric...just an amazing atmosphere the whole day and night that I know will never be topped.

    2. Bama - Florida 2005. We sack Leak on play 1, he fumbles but they recover only to punt 2 plays later. Brodie to Prothro for an 80 yard TD on our first offensive play, loudest I've ever heard our stadium with the possible exception of Rocky Block a few years ago. Place was absolutely insane all game. So much fun.

    3. Bama - LSU 2011. Fans packed Bryant-Denny LONG before kickoff. It was like being at a national championship game watching everyone basking in the environment, taking pictures, just trying to soak up the whole experience. No TD's scored but that didn't make the atmosphere any less monumental.

    4. Bama - Texas in Pasadena. Never been to a more "historical" type of game. Two bluebloods playing at the Rose Bowl for the national title. It was my first experience at a national title game and the pageantry was pretty amazing.

    5. Bama - UGA 2008. Never had more fun in an opponent's stadium. Their fanbase was jacked all day with the blackout, preseason #1, Gameday was there, primetime TV...and we just waxed them. 31-0 at halftime.

The Clemson and VT games in 08 and 09 were pretty amazing too, especially the Clemson game. That was the first glimpse of what Saban was about to do. Sadly, the 2010 Iron Bowl was an unbelievable atmosphere and the place was crazy as hell when we were running up the score...until, ya know...

  • NoVa, I went to 4 Miami/FSU and we lost the first 3 so I almost didn't go to the 4th...

Glad I did, it was the one where Miami muffed the kick for us to win...the one where we had 9sacks.

That was my favorite game I've been too because it was such a close grind of a game. It was a miracle to score even a FG that game.
