Movies that really stuck out to me this year:
Moonrise Kingdom.
But I'm a sucker for the subtle, artistic flair of all Wes Anderson movies.
Looper was very promising. But for a futuristic time-jumping faux gangster movie the plot slipped away from it and the ending became increasingly predictable.
Cloud Atlas was "interesting." I'm not so sure the six subplots really came together during the film, which was a common criticism about the novel. But you can't fault it for being ambitious as the original story is completely distinctive and isn't just another one of the slightly altered repackaged plots from the early/mid 20th century like is the case for most modern movies.
Movies that disappointed:
Skyfall, Ted, The Hobbit.
Movies I missed that I still really want to see:
Django, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Seven Psychopaths

The Dark Knight Rises was best movie of the year. The Avengers was #2. Granted I have a 10 Year Old and most of the movies I saw this year were Kids Movies..
