Keith Moon was the greatest rock drummer no contest.

Best ever....WTH knows.
But Keith Moon is my favorite drummer for straight ahead r & r, and it's not really close; other favorites in this category: Chad Smith, Bonzo, Ginger Baker and Charlie Watts
Other favorites from varying styles:
Bill Bruford, George Hurley, Steve Shelley innovative & tasteful
Neal Peart, Danny Carey, Carl Palmer: Technical freaks
Favorites across all styles, in no order would be Moon, Bruford and Hurley
