I can't believe this thread is on page 3 and Game of Thrones has not been mentioned yet. I'm so fvcking pumped up for April to come and Season 2 to begin.

Fair enough. I've read the first four books and killed three of them before half the first season was over. There is an incident that will happen in season three (book three) that will make you so mad that you may want to break a window.

I am a huge GoT fan but the story is based off a book. The awesome story was already written and all they had to do was adapt it.

You could say the same thing for 3 of the 5 the OP listed:
The Soprano's: Easy to make a mob show based off history
The Wire: More complicated but they had Melvin Williams and actual Baltimore heroin dealers helping them with that
The Tudors: Come on everyone knows about Henry VIII

The Wire. And its not really close. Sopranos is 2nd. Having a whole season of Tony in dream world was very annoying. How shows like NCIS and CSI can even be mentioned in this discussion is beyond me
