Best classes by position- defense

Like the one you've been desperate to waste on wiggins all year

You're an idiot... Wiggins is one if the better CB's of 2013. We need another CB, therefore we go after Wiggins. It's not wasting a scholarship when you offer a good CB to fill a needed position. Uga on the other hand, offering low-quality players to overload positions. That's what I mean by waste. We have tight numbers this year..we can't afford nor are we desperate to take who ever that will commit. Understand, big guy?

  • If we hold on to Rashard Robinson, I'd take LSU's DB group over any in the country. Hard to top the talent and potential in our DB class.

Robinson-great size, stheltic ability and huge upside
Tredavious White-could argue that he may be the best CB in the country. He just isn't as known and popular as Hargreaves(I have and still always say Alexander is #1)
Ricky Jefferson-size, athletic skills and upside.
Jeremy Cutrer-top notch talent at S with a good frame.

    Possibles
Jeryl Brazil-fastest kid in the country and is a lot bigger and stronger than his size indicates
John Diarse- could easily be a very good S
Priest Willis-my choice as the top overall DB in the country.

  • I'm not saying I think UM's D-Line class is the best in the country, but I like it a lot, especially if you factor Shallman in.

Mo Hurst Jr. is one of the most explosive DT's off the ball I've seen this year.

I think you're the idiot. Are you a coach or are you qualified to evaluate high school football talent? What makes you say UGA offered "low quality players"? Who died and made you the freakin expert? I think UGA's defensive coaches, two of which came from the NFL, are more qualified to evaluate defensive talent than you. See you next year in Jacksonville where UGA will make it three in a row.

Obviously you believe it possible for more than 1 person to be the best in the country.

Of course ... We will find out in 4 years who really is though. Thats the great thing about recruiting.

  • Ratings only mean a very small portion. There is not a big difference between a 5 star and 4 star. I remember tuitt was only a four star and I'd take him over any other sde from his class. Player development is the real key. Developing those players to take their game to the next level. It is also huge to have depth, especially in the trenches where players get banged up and bruised more. It kills me to see big V still committed to USC. Oh well. Good luck to him. I'm excited to see jaylon smith. I saw him with luers, and he is just filthy.

I do think LSU is in the convo for sure depending on how the finish goes, and where a guy like Brazil plays at the next level.

Love the upside of Rashard Robinson.

I agree 100%. There are so many talented kids now-a-days. It truly is a talent maximization contest - the players wanting to maximize, and programs developing that talent.

The special guys will be very good or end up being special (see Clowney and Cyrus K from 2011), but after those sure things...all about talent maximization and who has that drive to be the best IMO.

  • BTW, this is what makes topics like these fun.

It can be discussed so many ways.

On Georgia, there is a pretty good chance they will come out of this class with 3-4 starter level DB's because of how many guys they are likely to sign. There will be programs that turn out DB's individually better IMO, and could easily turn out better secondary classes in 3-4 years as there are always variables at play, but Georgia has a really good shot of having a number of quality players due to having a big number of guys in a class, and that are talented.

True But was is not so simple is the s and cb position evals. If this part of the article is so "off" I have a hard time with the credibility of the eval on the other positions

But you are correct, time will tell but quantity over quality doesn't mean better.

The vast majority of the positions are close. If Florida was to snag Alex Collins, then running back is a position there could be a run away type of scenario.

All fun discussion. Thanks for being part of it.

Really all I was trying to get going, I'm glad u saw that through any homerism

Man o man, if UF lands AC and holds the trio with KT and Adam Lane, I believe u are correct with the RB situation.

That would be sick if Florida signed Collins and KT.

A look at the best defensive classes by position so far during the 2013 cycle, including another excellent group heading to Notre Dame, headlined by five-star Jaylon Smith.

Have you ever thought about actually ranking classes three or four years after they make it on campus as to what they actually do at XXX school instead of what they did in high school?

roflmao which FL LB is 10x better than Jaylon Smith? Heck according to every scouting service Anzalone is better than all yours, probably why WM wanted him so badly..

No idea, but Matt Rolin is awful and I hope he starts one day for them

I wouldn't say UF signed higher players...

    UF - Hargreaves, CB - 100 - 5 star Harris, S - 95 - 4 star Neal, S - 91 - 4 star Washington, S - 90 - 4 star

    UGA Matthews, S - 94 - 4 star Wiggins, CB - 92 - 4 star Langley, CB - 92 - 4 star Fluker, S - 91 - 4 star Wilkerson, CB - 90 - 4 star Green, CB - 89 - 3 star Bostick, S - 87 - 3 star Johnson, CB - 84 - 3 star Mauger, S - 83 - 3 star

UF has one 5-star, and three 4-stars. UGA has zero 5-stars and five 4-stars and four 3-stars. The quality may be a bit higher at Florida with the 5-star, but it's not big enough of a gap to overcome the fact that UGA has two more 4-stars and four 3-stars.

How many of those Kids will see the field? Also, Do you really think that UGA has a better secondary then UF? the fact that UGA has all those guys is because 1) UGA sees things in those kids that UF might not. 2) We don't need DB in this class, we just wanted to get some of the top DBs in the class and I think we have done great doing so.
