Best games of the opening weekend of 2012

    South Carolina @ Vanderbilt

    Friday 8-31-12
    Boise State @ Michigan State
    Tennessee vs. NC State (GA Dome)

    Saturday 9-1-12
    Alabama vs. Michigan (Cowboys Stadium)
    Auburn vs. Clemson (GA Dome)

  • Boise @ MSU is an interesting game. Not sure how Boise will do without Moore but that's the reason I want to watch.

    Can't wait for Bama vs. Michigan. I'll be there for that one and am excited as hell to see Jerry World as well as play a great program like UM. Should be two highly ranked teams, lot of hype, defending national champs, etc...

    Auburn vs. Clemson should be a good game. Clemson will have the better team but Auburn will test them and could pull the upset.

    Wazzu @ BYU doesn't belong on this list. Not sure what happened there. Bleh.

    I will watch Notre Dame vs. Navy strictly because it's being played in Ireland but I likely won't watch it all and it will probably suck as a game. Very cool idea though.

    UT vs. NCSU could be a good game, will watch. USCe @ Vandy could be decent if Franklin keeps it up and I'll be excited to watch the first game of the season, especially it being an SEC game.

    My team is playing in the best game of the weekend, our rivals are playing in big games, first game of the year is an SEC tilt...I'm happy.

    I wish the Bama vs Michigan game was at Lucas Oil, it frustrates me when the location doesn't make a lick of sense. I doubt the stadium is 75+% full for that. Will be one of the 5 best regular season games of the year though I bet.

    Cowboy stadium will be full. Michigan travels well and would fill the whole thing themselves if allowed. But I agree Lucas Oil would make more sense.

    ND-Navy isn't very exciting. Only thing that would make it interesting would be if ND actually loses the game.

    Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

    If they were showing scenic views of Ireland and giving tourist information then yea I would watch.

    Not saying I'll watch all 4 quarters, but it will be interesting to tune in for a few and see how the setup is.

    Have you guys looked at the schedule? Not a whole lot of opening week barn-burners.

    Sounds like I'm ignorant but both fanbases just spent a ton of money on the last game of their team's 2011 season. Michigan I figured would have many fans save the money to go to two B1G road games rather than one game in Dallas. And I thought enough Tiders will want to see if the team wins that game before selling the farm for tickets.

    Those were my thoughts, admit I am wrong. Obviously a lot of local football fans will gobble tickets as well.

    Yeah you must not understand the fanbases involved here. Bama fans will sell out any stadium for an opening game. We fill 100k for a spring game. Tickets will be hard to come by and you know Michigan fans will buy there share as well. I know a ton of people here in Bama that have had this thing booked for over a year.
