To win in the SEC, you have to have players. Here's a look at the best choices for each open job in the league from a purely recruiting standpoint.

I don't think Fisher will have the same recruiting pull at Auburn that he has at FSU.

Thanks Genron, I agree with you to an extent. I think FSU is an easier job from a recruiting standpoint and that's one reason why I'd be surprised if he left. He'd still be able to recruit at a high level for auburn though and would be better equipped to succeed there than others.

I also think Craig is destined to coach at Auburn at some point. I'd love to see what he'd be able to do recruiting for his alma mater.

  • I think Kirby Smart would be a great choice for any of those teams also. I think he is waiting on Georgia to open up though.

Wish auburn and ut would go ahead and make their hires

They're going to end up with underwhelming hires IMO... BUT I could be wrong... its happened before once or twice I think.

I think their hires will definitely look underwhelming because of who their media and fans have hyped up. Tennessee was never getting Gruden and Auburn was never getting Fisher. But people got whipped into a frenzy over those guys so now if the Vols get Golden and the Tigers get say Malzhan people will be pissed even though both those hires could work for them.

Jimbo would be an underwhelming hire in my opinion and I dont know many or any Auburn fans who wants Jimbo as their first choice or any choice, especially after the buttkicking he received from Florida. I personally would probably rather have Malzahn and I laugh that FSU fans like you are so defensive about keeping him. What has he accomplished?

I'm not defensive about keeping Fisher. I'm a realist about where Auburn gets it's coaches from. Your last coach had a losing record at Iowa State and the one before that you got from Ole Miss. Auburn isn't a school that steals coaches from top programs, so I have never worried about Fisher leaving FSU for Auburn.

Yet both of those coaches probably had an equal or better resume than what Jimbo Fisher had when FSU hired him

  • Jimbo had no resume, but I don't pretend FSU can go steal a HC from a program that can pull in top 5-10 classes annually and be favored in every game but 2 or 3 every year. IMO there are 3-5 schools in the nation that have a chance to steal a HC from a premier program in the nation. FSU and Auburn don't make the cut.

  • The owner of the Auburn board on this network apparently knows Jimbo from his time at Auburn and he has been pushing the idea Jimbo would at least listen. Most Auburn posters I have seen around the internet dont believe he is coming and a lot of them dont want him. A mod on the Auburn rivals board also apparently went on a weekly radio show that is dedicated to Auburn sports and said Jimbo is not coming
