    I hate to agree but I agree. Not because they beat us. We fvcked ourselves everyway possible leading up to the title game. Um had no distractions and would have spanked OU. Could have won 3 in a row. That would suck: 7>3>2. Thank you Lord.

    We should really have at least 9 national championships not just 5 but that 2000 team should have been in the title game.

  • I'd say the 97 FSU team was up there too. But Miami 2000, AU 04, Utah 08, USC 03 are all pretty good teams. I think Miami '00 and USC '03 were probably the best though.

    That's what I'm thinking. We got a BCS win and #2 ranking rather than a BCS loss and rank around 4-5.

    Everyone underestimates how loaded that 04 OU team was. What makes auburn better than that OU team?

    Better total offensive and defensive stats maybe? If I'm not mistaken AU had the #1 defense in the nation if memory serves me correctly. (sigh) ...Wish I could say that again at some point... lol

  • They didn't get screwed by any means, but 02 USC was playing awesome football in November of that season and crushed an Iowa team that had dominated everyone in their paths for the past six weeks of the year. Their two losses happened by the first week of October and were to teams that were a combined 21-5 in 02. They were such a young team which is why they lost early, improved and crushed teams late in the year. I know I'm in the vast minority, but I would take the 02 USC team, led by senior Carson Palmer and a pair of senior running backs, over the 03 USC team, led by sophomore Matt Leinart and a sophomore and two freshman running backs, given how each team was playing at the end of the season.
