    Yes and after a while you build a tolerance and they stopped working with me. Honesly bud, 99% of supplements are garbage. Whey, creatine, multivitamin and fish oil is the only thing Id ever spend money on again. And currently I only take Whey protein and a multivitiman. The only stuff that is actually gonna help you get bigger and stronger or look better is ILLEGAL... If anybody argues that, they probably work for GNC. EAT GOOD FOODS. Supplements are called "supplements" for a reason.

    Yea, that's what I figured. I'll probably go with a whey protein for post workout and might try the MusclePharm Assault for a pre-workout.

    Don't want to spend a ton of money and don't want to die or lose wiener length from taking a supplement.

Supplements very rarely offer an advantage unless they're illegal. Eat well work HARD and take protein....creatine is good for post workouts and recovering though.

    The sports supplement industry is a huge unregulated joke. The only legal substances out there with any scientific evidence to show they have ergogenic benefits are creatine and caffeine. My gf is the marketing director for a very large vitamin/nutrition company which also has an extremely profitable "sports supplement" line; they do not have a single employee with any background in biochemistry. I have worked as a consultant for them on numerous projects because the multi-billion $ nutrition company doesn't have any employees that actually know anything about nutrition

    As far as protein, get on the mailing list http://americanpurewhey.com/ and you can usually save 35%(blueberry and chocolate PB are awesome). Nobody comes close to their prices and it is quality stuff. http://truenutrition.com/ is also good stuff, but they aren't coming anywhere near the <$4/lb from AmericanPureWhey.

  • Keep it simple.

    1) Whey protein. I've used a bunch my favorites are ON gold standard, BSN Syntha 6, MP Combat.
    2) BCAAs. I like ON BCAA 5000. Unflavored easy to mix with protein.
    3) Multivitamin. again i go with ON optimen
    4) Fish oil.

    If you would like to use a preworkout which isn't a must by any means but nice for when you are feeling a little sluggish before workout. i'd go with C4 or NO Xplode. hope this helps.

  • VPX makes a graham cracker protein. I mix it with 8 oz of Almond milk, lil ground cinnamon, a dab of vanilla extract, and some honey. Out of control delicious.

    For the most part I agree with this. Eat alot and eat healthy and don't worry about most of that crap they sell promising to make you big. I eat protein shakes as a supplement to my normal meals just to get my calories and protein in, besides that all the supplements I take are for my health, not to get big. And I have gotten plenty big and plenty strong in the past and have worked in the fitness industry for the last 8 years.

  • One thing to remember is supplements are not really regulated. As has already been mentioned, anybody can take a crap in a bag, throw a ripped guy on the outside and sell it for $40. Ideally you want a GMP stamp on the bottle. This isn't to say that it has been tested or is going to work for you. What it does mean is the process of making the supplement has been regulated and monitored at every step in the factory. You would be surprised how many supplements out there aren't. It isn't perfect but it is the closest thing to a certificate of quality out there.

    If you are getting protein powder you probably want Whey, ideally a Whey Isolate. Soy is crap. I would personally stay away from MuscleMilk, while still within "acceptable" levels, a consumers report on them from a few years ago showed they had far and away the highest amount of arsenic in their protein of a group of big name brands they tested.

    With fish oil, make sure it lists the types of fish in the ingredients. If they won't say the type of fish, likely it is crap. Also stay away from companies that advertise Omega-6s and/or Omega-9s. You only want Omega3 and anybody saying otherwise is trying to scam you.

    As for vitamins, well you get what you pay for. I highly recommend making sure the vitamin is a capsule, not a tablet. Most tablets go out the same way they went in and never get absorbed by the body. The company I work for sells a pretty good vitamin made by Douglas Laboratories which is a little pricey but has male/female formulas and comes different formula for AM and PM.

    If anybody is interested just PM me, I think I can get you a discount on any of the stuff my company sells (mostly Thorne, Douglas Labs or DaVinci) but it's mostly of the health variety, not the body building type.

  • I love Jack3d. Mixes into a very small amount of water (4 oz. I think) and is easy to drink. Works great. Also a fan of BSN Amino X, and strawberry BSN Syntha 6 p.w.o. whey is a must have.

  • Jack3d is alright but make sure to cycle off it every once in a while because you will get used to it. I'm a fan of Redline Xtreme. I tried one of the Redline shots the other day and I was flying around the gym. I get a lot of my stuff at this site called nutraplanet. You should check it out. Pretty fast shipping too. Take a look at this Maximize V2 stuff. Works for me and I don't crash as hard after like I do with Jack3d.
