Peppers but he will probably be a safety.

  • Very high on Peppers. Steve Wiltfong is actually at his school today.

  • I'm biased having graduated from Hoover and Humphrey being a huge Bama lean. But I'll give it a try.

Very similar players but I'd have to give the edge to MH. He is taller, more physical, and can tackle very well for an athletic corner. He actually enjoys it which is rare and has very long arms for a guy his size. I saw him make a pick this season where he turned around to locate the ball in the air playing man and picked it off in the end zone. Most college corners would have gotten turned around on that play or never looked back for the ball at all. MH not only defended the play, he picked it, and got two feet in to keep the ball. Amazing player. And at the risk of sounding like a complete homer, he will be coached up about as well as one can be coming from a place like Hoover. His learning curve will be a lot less steep than others because he already knows how to work. JMO

  • Just watched film of Humphrey and '14 CB Tony Brown. Might want to give Brown some consideration in this discussion.

Even as a Bama fan, I'm objective.....I like Hargreaves more as he seems to be a more fluid, agile athlete. Humphrey is a super athlete but he seems to be less agile..... Maybe a little more stiff than most elite CBs. Essentially, I'm saying Hargreaves seems to be capable of covering bigger wideouts and slot guys where I think Humphrey would struggle covering a 5'9" slot WR with super quicks.

Jabrill Peppers...More I watch, the more I'm convinced he is the best player in the 2014 class. Barring injury, he will do special things.

Hmmm. I've heard several "over the mountain" coaches in the B'Ham area say he's the best cover corner they have ever seen on the high school level. Most consider his cover skills to be his biggest asset.

Agree about Brown BBD. For a guy his size, his coverage skills and playmaking ability are rare. Could be a 5* CB or S imo. Best package of skills at DB in the '14 class, with Laurence Jones maybe giving him a run for his money if he plays CB during the camp season next year.

If I have to win a game tomorrow in picking Hargreaves but if im projecting longterm I'm taking Hunphrey. Lots of good indicators for succes with that kid.

Would you say Humphrey is a dre Kirkpatrick clone with much more polish at this point in his career?

Humphrey has more polish. They are somewhat similar, but I hate to compare players exactly- they are all different.

  • Hargreaves is the best I've seen since Eric Berry (I know he ended up at safety) and Hunphrey is right up there with him.

I've seen Brown and think he's five-star worthy, I just think Humphrey has slightly more special ability in coverage.

Should be interesting. To us (247Sports), there has never been a debate as to who the top CB for 2013 is. We are high on Kendall Fuller for sure, but just don't see the same things we see in Hargreaves.

Haven't watched Humphreys film, so no clue.shrug As far as Fuller goes there are probably 4/5 CB's I'd take over him in the 2013 class.
