Better Program: Michigan or Alabama?

  • This has to be a joke... the answer is obvious.

does alabama claim wins over albion, adrian, ann arbor high school, and the michigan school for the deaf?

Be gone with your 1/3 of a big ten title in over 20 years. Go celebrate on your board like your team finally arrived. loco

You know, we'd probably get along if you'd drop this anti-Michigan persona you got going on.

We also played against a certain "Michigan Agricultural College," which was designated by the state legislature to become "Michigan State College," and soon after "Michigan State University."

Anyway, your semantic argument that we played lesser teams when football was still only played by a few dozen schools around the country sorta falls flat... Most teams had to play high school teams back then because of a lack of competition.

These sparty fans are comical. They have wins against the likes of Albion, Adrian, Case, and Chicago YMCA,and they have no problems counting them in their overall record. shrug

Edit: They are 5-0 against Michigan School for the Deaf, pretty good.

I am pretty sure Alabama played teams like that early in their program. As you stated, teams played whoever they could. Back then, the closer the easier to schedule.

I wish we had Bama's bowl record and a couple more NC, but I'll take our conference titles, Heismans, and All-Americans.

Yes, in Alabama's early years they claim wins against birmingham high school, sewanee, the birmingham, tuscaloosa, montgomery, pensacola, and new orleans athletic clubs, the taylor school, the wetumpka agricultural school, and the marion military insitute. Good try though.

  • At least when Bama fans brag about their program's tradition, they don't have to go all the way back to the days of the William McKinley administration.

I'm pretty sure you don't know the definition of tradition. What's the point of having tradition if you don't celebrate the whole thing? shrug
