Better football player tebow or newton.....

This. I will say that he made some amazing throws against Alabama in the 08 championship and put the ball where only his WR's could get it, in a very small window. However, overall through his college career, that offense was designed to get their skill players in space and usually did with no one being within 10 yards of them. He was definetly a system guy but a tremendous football player. I'm not takin anything away from him but giving me his competetion % numbers doesn't help his cause.

Definitely Cam. Tebow was a great college player, but a great defense could manage him. Cam, no defense could shut him down for a whole game.

In the pros, Cam by far

Coaches also had 3 years to stop Tebow and a lot more film to go off of.

Cam would have had some more to think about in a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year.

Hard to compare them when you look at it that way. Seeing someone a 2nd time makes a huge difference.

Was Cam not in a system that was designed to do the same thing in college?

This has to do with the article comparing Tebows accuracy to both Mannings.

I understand that, but Cam was in a system like that as well, so the same could be said about him as well.

  • Show me what Tebow did that Leinart didn't.

Leinart won a heisman and two NC's as a starter. He lost two total games in three years as a starter.

Tebow won a heisman and one NC as a starter. He lost six total games in three years as a starter.

As far as the pros they are basically the same player...sh***y

Cam basically did this in one season and is an absolute stud in the NFL.

I never said it couldn't. I picked Cam because he's a bigger, stronger , faster and more athletic version of Tim Tebow who has much better mechanics and a 100x stronger arm.

  • I'm not a big tebow fan but this is the way I see it.

Cam is a better NFL QB at the moment. In college, it was close and debatable.

However, as a person, Tebow has Cam beat by 'miles and miles.'

Cam always sounds full of himself and his accomplishments.

  • I think it comes down to this. If you're starting a team and get to choose either Tebow or Cam, I think 99% of people who have any sense whatsoever pick Cam. You can take a guy with Cam's attributes and stick him in whatever kinda system there is and he'd be highly successful and could still win the Heisman. I don't think You could do the same with Tebow.

    Well in that case:

    Tebow 2 'ships... Cam 1

i believe it looks like this....
    tebow 2 'ships....cam 2
would have been 3 for cam but he announced to transfer b4 florida won in 2008. he may have gotten a ring. idk

Is he skilled? Yes. In fact more so than just about anyone. Does he step in last year and take a 1-4 Broncos team to the 2nd round of the playoffs? No one can answer this, but I would have my doubts. Doesn't mean Tebow is better. He just had something the Broncos needed. He was a positive leader and influence on the offensive side of the ball.

Cam can be great and probably will, but again, wins and losses will determine his success, not stats. Phillip Rivers has great stats. Scott Mitchell had great stats. Honestly, the jury is still out on Tebow as well so the NFL comparrison is probably premature for both.

If I had to project, I would say Cam right now, yes.

If better football player is the question then Tebow
If you meant beter QB Newton

Please explain how Tebow is the better football player.

-People should take a look at the Carolina Panthers offensive production in 2010 vs 2011. Double the points per game and improvement in yards per game from 32nd (last) in 2010 to 7th in 2011.
-First player to begin career with consecutive 400 yards per game. Only 6 players ever have done this.
    -Rookie passing yards record
-QB Single Season rushing TD record

All the above done without a training camp.

    College
-Newton with 1 season as Div I Starter and he was undefeated.
-Tebow had 3 seasons as a starter and never went undefeated
-Compare the number of 1st and 2nd round picks on Florida 2008 vs Auburn 2010 and Florida had the more talented team by a lot.
-Newton with Harvin, Demps, Rainey, Louis Murphy and Riley Cooper along with the Pouncey twins on the line and you are talking about the most dynamic offense in college football history.

Newton by a large margin. Kid may redefine the QB position in the NFL

Jabrill Peppers...More I watch, the more I'm convinced he is the best player in the 2014 class. Barring injury, he will do special things.

    Haha.

I agree Cam is the better prospect, but if you at wins and losses, it goes the other way. Cam also had better receivers and protection at Carolina.

You can't overlook taking a 1-4 team to a playoff win against the Steelers.

Did you see Carolina in 2010? 2011?

There are 0 NFL Teams that would take Tebow over Newton.

If you just look at wins and losses in a team sport and ignore things like ... everything else ... you can come up with some f'd up scenarios re: who is better or on par with someone else.

    Nice job.

There is not a single individual thing on a football field that Tebow does better than Cam Newton. Not really a single thing Tebow does even comparably well, fwiw.
