Better or worse in 2013

  • Give me your teams who should be better or worse next year.

    For the PAC-12

Washington: Should be the team that makes the biggest leap up of any in the conference. Was a very young team this season that played very good at home, but horribly on the road. Must get over that mental hurdle of playing away from Seattle.

USC: Should be much better on both sides of the LOS. Losing Barkley could be a blessing in disguise as the USC offense should get back to being more balanced. As of now with a receiver trio of Lee, Woods*, and Agholor will be the best in the nation. *better than 50/50 chance of coming back but far from a sure thing

ucla: Should take a leap in their 2nd year under Jim Mora jr. They will lose Jonathon Franklin on offense, but the D returns most of their starters. If Anthony Barr comes back, they have the makings of an elite front 7.

Oregon St. Returns most of their starters, but loses playmakers on both sides of the ball, most notably Markus Wheaton at wr, and Jordan Poyer at CB. Overall should be better

Stanford: Hard to be better than PAC-12 champs, but overall could be better. Now losing Shane Skov, and especially Chase Thomas, who I feel was the best 3-4 OLB in CFB will be tough to replace. Losing Taylor on offense will be a blow as well, but the Offensive line should be improved, and Kevin Hogan is an emerging star at QB.

Oregon: Offense loses Barner, but the offense overall could be even better next year. Defense is going to take a hit losing a couple of big time linebackers and one of the best pass rushers in the nation in Dion Jordan. If they do lose Chip Kelly, then this team will take a step back.

Arizona. Will be the 2nd year under Rich Rod so you would think there would be improvement, they also return the nations leading rusher in Kadeem Kerry, but I am not sure if they will have a QB to fully run his system.

ASU. Return their QB Taylor Kelly who runs that offense well, and the PAC-12 defensive player of the year Will Sutton. Should be improved next year.

WSU and Colorado should both be better next season, especially WSU, but neither will be very good.

Cal. Could be better, but Dykes is going to have a tough going in his first season.

Utah. Will have a tough time replacing Star Loutolulei on the defensive front. will remain at the bottom of the conference.

Overall the PAC-12 should be much improved across the board, and could very well be the nation's toughest conference. The Schedules will simply be too tough for any team out of this conference to make it to the national title game. I don't see any team having less than 2 conference losses at this time.

  • Record-wise, Michigan will be better - highly unlikely we have the same type of fluke injury that cost us a winnable game against Nebraska, and we won't be playing the #1, 2, and 3 teams in the AP again. The schedule sets up nicely, and outside of Taylor Lewan, we don't lose much at all to graduation/draft. Devin Gardner is ready to step in at QB, and the coaches have shown that they're infinitely more comfortable running their offense through him rather than Denard.

  • Depending on EE for draft, we could actually be better next year and have an easier schedule. [yikes]

  • I think South Carolina should be roughly about the same, but our schedule is much easier so we may have a better record.

  • Obviously betterclover I think Stanford is top 3 team heading into next year. They only lose 2 starters from their D, that's scary. OSU has easy path to being undefeated. A&M much easier schedule will be better if they don't lose both starting OT's.

Woah now, OSU has an easy path to come into The Game undefeated. The Game is never a given.

Citing a mere 5-point differential kinda proves my point. If The Game were ever a given, you'd think it'd be when one of the teams was coming in undefeated and the other had 3 losses, but instead you get a game that could've easily gone either way.

As do I. We're both fielding quality teams, and both teams bring their A games to The Game. That's why it's always so enjoyable to watch.

it's always a blast to watch, but in a few yrs (when ur o line recruits and our d line recruits) are upperclassmen, it's gonna be a war!!!!!!!

We'll do our best. I really want to see the Clowney-Lewan battle, I think it'll be a microcosm of what our trench warfare is going to be like in a few years.

    (clowney vs lewan) spot on...

i was just telling a buddy of mine (who is not a really big college fball fan), that he must tune in just for that match-up...

both kids are tough and will be playing on sunday's soon...

i've seen more of lewan (being a big ten fan) but that guy clowney has some serious game...speed like that for a de is very rare! lewan will have his hands full, for sure

... after seeing true frosh Washington tear him up, I'm not hopeful he represents well against Clowney.

facepalm_msu Washington got one sack against Lewan. One. That's not "tearing him up." Yes, Washington will be a good player, that's not the point. Lewan has a month to rest up, heal nagging injuries, and study film of Clowney. He's one of the best linemen in the country, and he didn't get there by being a pushover. If you honestly don't think Lewan will be going all-out in what amounts to a showcase of himself for NFL scouts, then I don't know what to say to you.

I think it'll be a solid matchup, honestly, I just knew you would be easy to get a reaction out of.

i would agree that clowney has the edge, but its lewan's last game and he knows everyone will be watching the match-up...

i think he (lewan) tries to prove a point (especially after the game vs washington)....

can he contain the speed of clowney? man, i dont know....cant wait o see though

I'm assuming OSU will be favored in that game, I do think UM is the only team that has a chance of handing UM a loss. IU might hang, only losing 1 starter on O and their starting QB returning. Unfortunately for them they're only losing 2 starters on D. IU will return nearly its entire team in 2013 and 2014. As far as your OT vs Clowney I think Clowney really hampers the kids draft status, which might help your cause for him to return.
