Big 10 can't make up it's mind

And that makes sense for US. But I would truly want to see even a Boise get in if they were one of the 4 best. They'd have to play 4 tough OOC games and win them to convince me. If I'm being honest, I think Boise has been one of the 4 best at least once in the past 4 years, maybe more. They had 2 things going against them: 1) Schedule and 2) Depth. I don't think they'd run one of the big conferences simply due to #2.

I have been on the Boise bandwagon for a while. If they could not get it done last season with all that senior talent, then their ship has sailed. They will not have a team as good as last years anytime in the foreseeable future.

Certainly a bigger game for Utah. I disagree with you about Bama though. Their body language did not at all display being asleep. Surprised a bit about how physical Utah was, but they were playing with effort, and talking a lot of shit before the game. I think your captain told the Utah guys that they were going to kick their ass at the coinflip.

He did. I never like to see our guys do ish like that. Utah was a VERY good team. They might have beaten us at our best, but they didn't see anything close to our best. The effort was an abortion, and not even partial birth.

Would join a conference. Notre Dame will be fine, as any of the big-4 conferences would jump to take them. BYU would have to beg to get into the Big-12, but they may let them in.

You are going to have to call them and tell them.

Their AD has already stated that they would join a conference if it was in their interests, and if their is a conference champs model for the final-4, then they will get on board. Until then they will remain an independent.

it is also of note that of the 3 major teams in the state of Indiana; Notre Dame, Purdue, and Indiana, that Notre Dame makes less money from TV than the other two. Teams like Washington St and Oregon St also make more TV revenue than Notre Dame does.

I started out really liking them, but they soured on me pretty badly after a while. It's hard to go against your own grain, but I admire the way they play the game. We can argue about who is better B12,B10,SEC,P12, etc. But nothing is worse than a team in Boise's shoes saying no one will play them, then saying the big boys have to play by their rules to play them. The hilarity continues when they try to claim their seat at the table for winning 1 real game per year. If you're the little guy, you pay your dues. FSU did it back in Bowden's early days. They would go anywhere and play anyone, and eventually started beating asses. The fanbase grew exponentially, money flooded in, bigger stadium/better facilities ensued. Boise wanted to be FSU without doing all that. I think it cost them huge, because you're right, their ship has likely sailed now. They could have taken their lumps and capitalized on it. They're a household name now, but not one with any battle scars to build on.

  • Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but I think both the B1G and PAC12 are going to take this approach for now.

Both conferences need a secondary big time tie in game like the SEC and Big12 agreed to for now. The 4 Super Conferences is a ways away and if the Rose Bowl does get in the playoff mix to include a B1G and/or Pac12 when available, the leagues will possibly lose that game some years if a team doesn't qualify and could also lose out on a 2nd big payday when they do qualify. Wouldn't surprise me to see the B1G set up a agreement with the ACC for the top ranked B1G team not in the playoff to face the same from the ACC in the Orange Bowl. If that was to happen, I think the B1G would be back on board for a playoff. The Presidents just realized they are leaving a lot of money on the table right now.

It will be interesting to see what is going to happen with a number of bowls. Putting aside a playoff for a second, the SEC/B12 deal already upsets the applecart in terms of the Sugar, Fiesta and Capital One bowls. Are the Sugar and Fiesta going to be happy with the #2 teams from the SEC and Big 12? And is the Capital One going to be happy with the #3 from the SEC? How about the Cotton being happy with the SEC #4? And that is all before teams are selected out for the BCSCG or a 4-team playoff. That potentially moves some of those bowls even further down the pecking order.

The P12 has notoriously poor bowl tie-ins and you will probably see the P12 make a run at the Fiesta. And I guarantee you that if the B10 sees an opening to get a tie-in with any of the Sugar/Orange/Fiesta/Cotton they will jump on it. At first glance, it looks like the Capital One might be the biggest casualty with the B10 moving its #2 team to the Orange Bowl and the SEC moving its #2 to the Sugar and keeping its #3 with the Cotton.

The SEC/Big12 tie in would be for the Sugar Bowl, unless the Sugar Bowl is a part of the playoff that year. Then it would move to the Cotton Bowl.

That's word around these parts at least.

pretty sure it is going to be an independent bowl, owned by those 2 conferences. it could be held at either site though.

I thought it was going to be owned by the SEC and B12. So it's really just the Sugar Bowl with two tie-ins (SEC #1 and B12 #1) instead of just the SEC tie-in? I guess that still leaves the Fiesta hanging. I wonder what they will do.

I hope the PAC-12 jumps on the Fiesta to send our #2 vs the Big-12 #2. Still would be 5 times better than anything the Orange Bowl could do.

That's part of what's been mentioned. Still don't think the Sugar Bowl has been approached. Just speculation. Nothing more is really going to fall in place until the meeting this month I'm sure.
