    Wrong.

Go back and read the thread from the beginning.

Before I even posted a single time here:

USMCAG: (on Brian Ethridge) "thin-skinned moron." Brian "Sausage Wallet" Ethridge.

So yeah, in fact, it wasn't started by me.

    "Ongoing issue."

The only issue here is that Status and USMCAG are liars. That crap may fly on texags.com, where they control the anti-Texas propaganda like a dominatrix on her period, but it shouldn't here.

  • Texas would love to add FSU and Notre Dame. Adding FSU and Clemson is a harder choice. The SEC is learning that adding Aggy and Missouri added no value to their existing TV contracts, which don't expire until 2024. The Big 12's Tier 1 expires in 2016 so adding teams makes more sense, but it is not a clear winner. Let's say the new SEC/Big 12 bowl game brings in a $100 million to each conference. An SEC team gets $7.1 million. A Big 12 team gets $10 million. The extra $2.9 million is pocket change to Texas, but it is meaningful to some schools.

The SEC will exercise one of its options to adjust the current ESPN contract with the conference, commissioner Mike Slive told CBSSports.com

The conference is expected to ask for an increase in the rights fees on the current 15-year, $3 billion deal after the addition of Texas A&M and Missouri. CBSSports.com confirmed a Saturday.

No way Slive takes Mizzou or A&M if it wasn't already agreed on with ESPN beforehand. The numbers will be release when they officially join this summer.

Swofford said the same thing. Go ahead and go to arbitration. That is not the same thing as going to market.

If its the article I'm thinking about it mentions 13, 14, 15 and 16.

    11 is Clemson
    12 is FSU

Practically done deals behind the scenes. Real question now is whether or not Notre Dame is going to get in on this expansion party and who they want to bring with them etc.

You are negotiating with CBS for increasing the Tier 1 contract and with ESPN for increasing the Tier 2 contract. Here is the verdict from CBS (there are numerous article on this point):

"Sources think the conference will reach an agreement with CBS first. Those sources familiar with the discussions predict that CBS will wind up paying a prorated increase or slightly more to the SEC.

The network has balked at paying any type of significant increase, sources say, arguing that the addition of Missouri and Texas A&M does not change its deal.

CBS’s deal with the SEC, negotiated in 2008, pays an average of $55 million a year to the SEC over 15 years. A prorated increase would take the value of that deal up to $65 million a year. The SEC could generate additional revenue by adding more years on the end of the contract.

CBS still will carry the same number of football games each season as part of its package, and network executives are arguing that schools such as Alabama, Florida and LSU—not Missouri and Texas A&M—drive the value of the conference. Without additional inventory, CBS’s stance has been that it shouldn’t pay more solely because the conference added two new schools."

For idiots like USMCAG, a prorated increase means no increase in the per school payouts to member schools (just no dilution).

I hope you are not this dense. The Big 12 will get more because its contract expires in 2016. The SEC's contract expires in 2024. The SEC will never get market value until then. They will get no increase on Tier 1. They will get an increase on Tier 2 because the inventory has increased, but not to market value. They only way the dollars increase substantially is if the term of the existing contract is extended (meaning you will be giving up value on those out years) or if you give ESPN something it hasn't already contracted for (e.g., a 9th game). I woudn't be surprised if the bump is only up to $25 million per school for both contracts.

Again you katz outside the SEC don't know how he rolls. He got A&M and Mizzou because the money is already agreed upon. Just listen to Tony Barnhart(who worksfor CBS) online he'll give you the scoop on the money heading the SEC way.

Don't be daft. You don't have to renegotiate with ESPN about the SEC network. They don't own the tier 3 rights. When you go to ESPN and say want a look-in, it is for your tier 2 rights bucko.

The BTN has been a huge success. The schools got $7.2 million per this year. That is 5 years in. Payouts in years 1-3 were far lower. Texas will get $10+ million in the first year. Not bad for a failed network.
