Bill O'Brien Presser

Our board just went from meltdown into jubilation. Why does everyone put so much stock in these? They're easy to nail. Granted, this one was tougher with the Sandusky ish, but it's not like he didn't know those questions would be asked.
Also, Larry Johnson will be staying on staff.
Other highlights - will take the NCAA recruiting test today/tomorrow and then will begin contacting recruits. BOB loves introducing every member of his family. Chin looked a little less buttlike with the camera so far away.

Overall I think it went well, but I cringed when he said he was lucky to have his first HC job be at a place like PSU. He could have left that sentiment out.
Also, am I the only person who got flashbacks to Charlie Weis' "decided schematic advantage" comments when O'Brien started talking about multiple defenses and situational game planning on offense? These are college kids (some barely out of HS) who still are learning fundamentals and you only have 20 hours per week with them for everything, including the game itself. You are not working with NFL Pro-Bowlers who already have completed 4 years of college ball and probably also have been in the league for 4 or 5 years.

I think he's gotta consider it a win to just make everybody STFU for a while to let him do his job and let us at least wait and see if he sucks or if he's another JoePA, Bowden, Bryant, or whoever. From how pissed everybody was to how calm they're said to be now, it's gotta take a little pressure off, for a while at least.

Yup. He had to keep someone since he won't be starting right away. Glad he picked LJ and LJ didn't want to jump at other opportunities.

I still believe the only reason to wait 60 days is to make a huge splash. It was going to be complete joy or complete meltdown at the announcement considering how on edge PSU has been post-Sandusky.
