    Honestly,

If Saban decided to leave for the NFL, he would be my first choice to take our program over.

He wants to eventually go to the NFL, but not now and he won't go to a bad team without a QB.

  • I think there's a much stronger chance he leaves starting next year, but it's not out of the question this year. He knows if he leaves this year, a whole lot of guys will transfer and the recruits will be lost, leaving the program even worse off than we imagined. Now, that doesn't mean he won't go, but it will definitely cause a bit more hesitation (after this offseason, the transfer rules are finally done, so that worry isn't there. I'm not naive enough to think that ultimately keeps him, but I do think he considers that factor.

If I had to guess, he would only consider a job with a pretty good QB (SD and Chi are the potential ones this year). He might not want to move his son (has a very rare disease) twice in a year, but if the right opportunity presented itself, he'd certainly consider. He will probably be an NFL head coach in a few years though if he continues to perform at a high level considering the circumstances.

Cam Newton in Carolina, Romo in Dallas (if Jerry cleans house) and maybe Cousins or even Alex Smith (available by trade) probably also make that list.

Plenty of options for places to land if the Teams are willing to spend to get better.

He's always coached pro style QB's, so I wouldn't think Carolina would be terribly attractive. Dallas would be, but I think Jerry sticks with Garrett for one more chance. Cousins or Smith are intriguing, but we have no idea where they'll land and they won't be traded till closer to the draft most likely, when all the jobs will probably be filled already.

Obviously he could accept any job knowing he could trade for one of them, but trades aren't terribly easy in the NFL. You also forgot Flynn as an option as well.

  • No earth shattering news here IMO

Coach A runs a high school offense that will not work in the NFL and is not a NFL guy
Coach B comes from the NFL and is not currently looking for a job because he got busted being a slimy cheating scum bag

The read option is working in the nfl.

    See

    Griffen, Robert
    Wilson, Russel
    Kaepernick, Colin.

You mean, it is working so far this year. Ask Mike Vick how well it has worked for him over his career...the "WIld cat" worked for a season as well...

These gimmicky offenses like "Wild Cat" and the Spread option are not going to work for long in the NFL. Give DC an off season to prepare for it and it will be non existent. Spread option will sail off into the sunset like the Wild cat did

I can remember when the same was said about the west coast offense.lol

  • Griffin is already paying the price for running the read option. He's getting killed. This thing just cannot be run multiple years with a franchise QB.

Because the west coast offense involves the QB getting pounded every play...right

  • I wonder if Penn State and Tampa Bay would just agree to trade BOB for Schiano straight up? Penn State fans probably wouldn't like it, but Schiano was always rumored to be waiting for the PSU job, and Bucs fans clearly weren't thrilled with how the season ended.

Schiano can suck my ass. As a Rutgers follower, I can tell you that he stinks. Terrible HC.... very good D-Coordinator. The decisions he makes are frustrating and his methods are borderline embarrassing.

Just wondering, where did you get this?

Personally, I think he'll be in the NFL by 3-4 years from now (if he doesn't leave this year). Sounds doubtful that he'll leave this offseason, but possible. And most of the PSU fans seem to think similarly to me.

As a Rutgers follower, you should know Rutgers has five bowl wins in their history....all by Schiano. They've won 9 games eight times in their history, and he has 3 of them (along with his players doing it again this year). Rutgers highest ranking ever? #12 in 2006.

They had won 27 games total in the EIGHT years before he got there. They've now won 65 games in the last eight years.

Put some perspective on it....Schiano does not suck as a coach. If he did, Rutgers would have continued to suck when he was the coach, and 1978 would still be their only bowl appearance.
