Bill O'Brien on more NFL short lists than Chip Kelly

  • I'm with Bills. He'll be in the NFL soon, but the only way he leaves this year is if he lands a really good opportunity. He's not going to leave at this point for some crap team. If he left, PSU would struggle to win 2 games next year.

Just wondering, where did you get this?

Honestly no idea where that notion is coming from. Very few PSU fans think he's not entertaining the NFL thing and will be in the NFL in the next 5ish years if he keeps being at least somewhat successful under the sanctions. I think most think he stays this year, but it becomes more and more likely he leaves with each passing year. Apparently Buckeye fans think we're all confident he stays for the next decade, but I'm not sure anyone believes that, even the crazy homers.

As a Rutgers follower, you should know Rutgers has five bowl wins in their history....all by Schiano. They've won 9 games eight times in their history, and he has 3 of them (along with his players doing it again this year). Rutgers highest ranking ever? #12 in 2006.

They had won 27 games total in the EIGHT years before he got there. They've now won 65 games in the last eight years.

Put some perspective on it....Schiano does not suck as a coach. If he did, Rutgers would have continued to suck when he was the coach, and 1978 would still be their only bowl appearance.

    A few things...

    1) 2006 happened because Greg lucked into a couple of players. Most notable was Ray Rice who was committed to Cuse until their coach was fired.

    2) The combined record of the opponents that they faced in their bowls was 41-36. Two of the teams ended the year with losing records.

    3) Since 2005 (Schiano's first winning season), RU's SOS according to Sagarin was (in order): 80, 58, 65, 73, 83, 67, 69 (note that there have only been 65ish teams in BCS conferences).

Sorry, but taking a team from terrible to mediocre is not impressive.
