Lolz, well considering we didn't play last year its been one game imo

And you won that game by a single point during FSU's worst season under Jimbo, congrats I suppose

And we don't play again this upcoming year either so I guess it will be another year added on.

  • Quin could go to UVA and get a great education and not win a NC or he can go to FSU get a degree mocked in most professional circles and still not win a NC...FSU isn't an SEC school so he's really not missing out too many crystal balls either way.

He'll still be a 1st rounder if he's really that good D'Brickeshaw Ferguson & Chris Long say Hi

roflmao why are you so pissed ?

Nobody gets mocked with an FSU degree pal, unless they themselves deserve it

Has nothing to do with an FSU degree

My pops graduated from FSU in 64', back then FSU was even worse... he went on to become a 2 star general in the army and is one of the most decorated and well respected men in his field

You saying he gets mocked ? you serious ?

I doubt mocking is the correct word. An FSU degree is just a mediocre run of the mill degree. Your dad graduating from there has nothing to do with his accomplishments. And I think you mean '64...

And to that other dude UVA may be one of the best schools in the country... But then again Harvard's football isn't getting any 5* athletes. And that's the best school on the planet... And neither of those guys were 5* guys. So tits. I bet Blanding ends up at FSU or OSU after UVA's embarrassing season.

Hiring managers who hire based solely on degree usually end up as failures. Good Managers don't care where you went to school just if you can get the job done.

I'm sure his #1 goal is stay in college 4 years and the get the best education he can.

That is my point, a degree is mostly just a degree... unless you went to Harvard or some shit but even then you still have to compete in the real world

I hate people who brag or talk about their degree, nobody truly gives a fuk in the real world

Its up to you and you alone to make something of yourself, a degree simply gets your foot in the door.... sometimes

    Correct

And if some football player comes into my office, well I don't give a shit where he went to school

I'd hire or not hire him based on what he brings to the table, not some piece of paper that was likely just handed to him for sleeping during an online class

Early on education seems to come up. Then reality seems to set in. The recruits are interested in engineering, or something like an architech degree. You got to be one gifted son of a bitch to play football and get a degree in architechure. Yeah, I was looking at chemical engineering but eventually decided on media relations.

Let's all be real here. Uva has a great business school, medicine along with some other top flight programs. But how many football players actually choose to major in business at Uva? Very few. Apparently a lot of your players major in Anthropology or maybe Sociology. Likewise, we have a lot of guys who major in Apparel & Property Management (can't recall the exact major). They don't major in Engineering, Computer Science or Architecture. I don't think potential employers are gonna give two sh*ts where a guy earned his anthropology degree or Apparel & Property Management degree. If your players were business majors or went on to become doctors, then yes, it would matter. If a VT player majored in engineering, CS or architecture, again, it would matter. This whole idea that Uva is somehow way above other schools academically (when it comes to football players) is bunk......both in admissions and in degrees earned.

I'll tell you the difference, our players have to go to class and they have to do the work. There are no online classes to hide behind. No "tutors" doing the work for them. That doesn't happen everywhere.

Cool story about your dad, mine went to UVA seems to making plenty of $$$ w/ his UVA diploma..West Virginia, FSU, Radford other schools that ppl w/ 'real' degrees don't respect because they are a joke

And ours don't do their work? I get your point that there are some schools out there that don't do it the right way and I'll give you that.....but seriously, is a job recruiter going to scrutinize an anthropology major or apparel and property management major as much as a Uva Comm graduate or VT Engineering grad? My point is, for the most part, the football players are not earning degrees in majors that are the forte of our respective universities. If Blanding graduates from McIntire, then yes, his decision to attend Uva was a damn good one academically. There are tremendous advantages to having a degree from McIntire. But if he studies Anthropology or Sociology, there isn't a definite advantage over Arizona, Arizona State, Kansas or even New Mexico for that matter.
