Boardwalk Empire Season 3 **spoilers**

  • I did not see a thread on this but only looked on the first 2 pages. Anyone watch last night?

Richard remains the best character on the show and a total badass.

Can't believe he just went and took out Manny like that. I liked Manny much more than Doyle.

I wonder if Richard is just going to go around and systematically eliminate everyone who killed Jimmy.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

i don't think he killed Manny because of Jimmy. i think he killed Manny because he killed Angela. they alluded as much in the flashback preview before the episode.

I agree. More for Angela than Jimmy.

I think he knew Jimmy was ready to die. That's why he didn't follow him to the meet, when he clearly knew something was up.

yeah, the Harrow's "crush" on Angela was made pretty clear. Confirmed by the focus he put on telling stories to Little Darmody about his mom.

  • Bump. What did yall think of last night's episode? Kinda surprising that Slater got offed. Can't wait for someone to kill off Gyp.

  • Pissed Slater died. He was a strong character. Things got interesting since the Mrs. is pregnant with his kid now.

Honestly I don't care anymore. I still hate Nucky for killing Jimmy last season. This show has no characters I give a sh-t about except Richard, and I am not sure where his story is going.

They are killing the best characters off. I have to say I didn't see that one coming but figured something would happen when Lucchiano spilled the beans about Nucky's attempt to kill Joe.

I would really like to see Richards role expand in the show.

I'm sure it will since Slater is gone. Maybe I'm looking to much into fine details, but how did Luciano know the method that Nucky was going to use to try and kill him? When Nucky had his meeting with his business partners and they all declined to help him, he did not mention the plan they used to try and kill Joe..

I think if I remember correctly it happened last week. It was when Nucky was still having his concussion symptoms and he met with everyone after losing his lunch in the toilet.

the federal agent (don't know his name - the palindrome guy) tipped Masseria off or the two additional henchmen that were with Masseria were expecting it and beat Owen to the punch.

why i think it was the Fed - because of the interaction right before the the camera cuts to Owen. He looks to give a nod to the bathhouse employee.

killing Slater was another unpopular choice - reviews were bad for last night (mostly because they offed Owen)

OT: How do you think Richard offed this chick that stole his Guinness?

    Play

Guinness Black - "Black Dress" Censored: (...

I'm really not fixated on this ad, but tonight, I noticed that the Guinness Black Larger spot featuring Boardwalk Empire's Jack Huston had been changed. The ad featured a somewhat lecherous Jack checking out a caramel-colored beauty while discussing the benefits of all things black. On the original cut you can hear the phrase, "Once you go black, you'll never go back." in the music bed, and then again at the close of the spot. It's a provocative line, but it works well for the product and the spot. The commercial has been revised to remove the two instances of the "Once you go black" line and Huston's breathy "Wow!" I think the ad is weaker for the changes. I also found the casting call for the featured model, but I'm really not obsessed. I would have thought she'd have gotten more than $2,000, but I guess it'll be great for her career. http://modelmuse.net/profiles/blogs/guinness-black-lager-commercial-2000 PS Also, I received notice that the NBA has a claim on this spot, so it's being blocked in China and Taiwan. That's very random and weird.

I was wondering the same thing. How did he know he would go after him at the bath house? My guess is that the dirty alcohol agent flipped on him b/c you never see that guy dead...

I would really like to see Richards role expand in the show.

Here's how I want Richard's story to play out:

-Gillian Darmody and Lucky have a falling out over prostitution business, Gillian cuts Lucky out.
-Lucky kills Gillian, Richard takes over the brothel and adopts Tommy.
-Richard and Lucky strike an uneasy truce.
-Richard slowly grows the business, becoming a bit of a local name.
-Richard reaches out to Chalky White, expands the prostitution business into the black territories and population.
-Richard proves adept at organizing and growing the prostitution business, begins discussions with Nucky about partnerships.
-Nucky only sees Richard as a tool for killing and a reminder of Jimmy, thus refuses to do business with him.
-Richard reaches out to Arnold Rothstein and makes an offer: if Richard can take over the liquor business in AC, Rothstein will back him.
-Richard approaches Eli, offers him a much larger role in the liquor business. Eli rebuffs him, but eventually comes around and decides to help Richard in the background.
-Richard's partnership with Chalky White allows him to reach out to other bosses (Meyer, Lucky, Al Capone) and provide evidence of his rising stature.
-Richard gathers his allies and, following the collapse of Nucky's protection in high places in the US Govt., kills Nucky as payback for the entire Darmody family - Gillian, Jimmy, Angela, and Tommy.
-Richard takes over as the new boss of AC.

    That's my ideal world.

Luciano tipped off Masseria. He whispered something in his ear, but didn't let the audience hear it. Maybe it was the federal agent.

It was the agent. The is of little doubt. Joe the boss told the towel boy that no one comes in, 2 seconds later, the agent and slater go right in as if he was expecting them. He was set up.

Also, if you know history, Joe the Boss is killed in a resturant by Bugsy Siegel. Bugsy is the dumb ass kid running around with Meyer and Lucky in Boardwalk right now. As soon as Slater said he was going to New York, I knew he was gone. I also guessed that Shroder would be preggo. God I hate that women!
