Boise State will play anyone!

If you are going to refuse to allow certain teams a chance to "earn" it, then you can't claim to be the best team nation.

That is like if the Houston Texans went undefeated, but they were rejected from the playoffs because they hadn't "earned" anything because they are a new franchise.

What you did in the past has no bearing on the team you field in the future.

If the Houston Texans went undefeated, they would have had to beat several quality teams to do it. Big difference between that and what Boise does year in and year out.

Uhh, Michigan State is playing Boise in 2012. I don't think Boise wants to play MSU and Arky in the same season.

I know right! 2 tough teams in the same year....thats crazy talk!

Arkansas should just go up there and kick the shift out of them.

Seriously, from Boise's perspective they want 1 season-opening "validating" win, then 11 games of cream-puffs.

If they want to be taken seriously, then they need 4 games on the road against BCS conference opponents. That's the same road schedule as the BCS conference teams HAVE to play every year within their conference (unless you're in the Pac-12, then some years you have 5).

If Boise played . . . .let's say @Michigan State, got North Carolina at a neutral site, then played @ Arky and @ . . . . let's say Stanford and then swept those games, then I could see them being legit NC contenders.

The issue isn't whether the Broncos can handle a BCS conf. team in a 1-game shot; obviously they've proven they can. What they haven't shown is the ability to hold up against the grind of a BCS conference season; back to back to back tough, physical games. For instance, Michigan State played @Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin and @Nebraska in a row this season, wiht a bye between @tOSU and the Michigan game. Show me a Boise State team that has faced anything like that, and that's to say nothing of what the SEC teams face every week.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

BSu is taking a step in the right direction by joining the Big East. The Big East really isn't very good, but it is still a step up from the MWC and WAC. I will be interested to see how they fare.

they wouldnt sweep that gauntlet, likely beat UNC and go 1-3 .

they beat Va Tech !!!! so did James Madison the week after .
they beat Gawja !!!! so did every other ranked team that played the pups in 2011.
they beat OU !!!! werent the Okies like 10-3 that year ?

a "name" win doesnt trump loses to Nevada & TCU . coffee

As an Arkansas fan I have not heard anything about us playing Texas. We had a 10 year deal in place to play A&M in Jerry world, now that they are in the SEC we're not sure if it will be home and home or still in Jerry world.

Boise wants teams to pay them to travel. I have seen links to reports that Boise has turned down numerous offers from larger schools because they wanted the schools to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for Boise to play them. Before any one asks, no I don't know where the links are, I've seen them on other boards.

Texas had a home and home with Arkansas in 2008 and 2009. Texas kicked the crap out of Arkansas in 2008. It was 52-10 but it wasn't as close as the score would imply. Arkansas begged off of the 2009 game, postponing it to 2011. Then they cancelled that one too. I think it is scheduled for 2020 now.

Texas has always beaten Arky like a drum, but it was once a far bigger rivalry game than Texas/Texas A&M. Not close to the OU rivalry mind you but far bigger than A&M.
Arkansas has been in the SEC for almost 20 years and they still don't have a rivalry game.

since 2000 we are 2-2 against Texas. I didn't even remember us playing you guys in 08. That was Petrino's first year, when we started like 17 Fr. Us and LSU is a pretty nice rivalry. Ole miss was too but that was just because of Nutt.

  • You cancelled the 2009 game and have refused to play us since. You are 21-55 vs Texas. Again, you don't have any rivals in the SEC, sad to say.

go ask LSU about that, or ole miss. And a lot of those 55 losses were from the 1800's up to the 1930's I don't think we beat you till the 40's.

  • Just looked it up 21-56 first win was in first game was in 1894, first win was in 1933.

  • Why on gods green earth would a team like Alabama,LsU, Geogia,Auburn etc ever wanna play Boise in Idaho? Do you realize how much money our teams would lose by doing that? Boise has to earn respect. Like FSU once did. They went on the road and played everyone. Try didn't ask teams to take the financial losses. Go on the road and play teams constantly in the top 5, beat them on a consistent basis like FSU did and then you garner enough respect in 5-7 years to get those return visits.

You are 12-24 against Texas since 1960, sport.

As for rivalries, how about you ask this guy:

Of course, nothing's perfect. Not even in the SEC. Eighteen years after leaving the SWC, one thing hasn't changed, and Nebraska should take heed.

"We don't have a rivalry," Broyles said.

Not like you had with Texas, anyway.

"Oh," he said, smiling, "did we ever."

    VaHorn

  • and note that a lot of people wanted Broyles gone years before he retired. Ask the LSU fans about it. Even the years we have lost to them it has been close (except this year), ask them about the miracle on markham, and then ask them about the miracle on marcum II. They hold a grudge about it and look forward to the game every year. If it's not a rivalry then why did CBS pick it up every year on the day after thanksgiving? All that being said, the Ark Tex game may have been a bigger rivalry, I was 9 years old when Ark left and joined the SEC so I don't really know.

  • I am just suggesting that Frank Broyles knows a hell of a lot more about this subject than you do. Whether anyone wanted him gone, didn't want him gone, is irrelevant.

That would be the man that was the athletic director and former coach of Arkansas for the past 50 years. The one that actually knows what a real rivalry is. Not some schmuck that was in summer camp at the time and who spouts off on a message board. You know, that man.

Hmm, I am the one that came up with solid facts to knock down your silly assertion. You seem to be about 14-15. Dogged in your views but lacking the intellect to make your points. Give it time, little one. And no, not name calling. Merely stating the obvious.

You put up a quote which I countered with logic. And you have yet to show anything else that even warrants discussion. good guess on the age only about half off the actual age, and yes calling someone an idiot is name calling. Besides all of that, how did we get so far off of Boise St?
