Boston mayor tells Chick-fil-A to stay out.

Why hasn't he spoken out about birth control? Or adulterers? Those are sins. He should take a stand against those, too.

He hasn't been outspoken enough about his Christian beliefs? Now I'm confused.

So, the man's beliefs are not what others believe, and for that reason others feel he has not right to those beliefs? Are Cathy's personal beliefs truly a threat to people. Chick Fil A has never opened on a Sunday due to mr Cathy's religious belief. Surprised no one has protested or took legal action to force them to open up on Sunday.

exactly Smitty....some people just want to use this so they can vent and ridicule Christians. I found this interesting in the article, how many of the people putting him down can do this?

Cathy states: “The decision to close on Sundays was our way of honoring God and directing attention to things more important than our business.” The company's stance on religion is so serious that part of its mission statement reads: “The purpose of Chick-Fil-A is to glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us and to have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-Fil-A.”

Cathy believes in putting his money where his faith is. From a business standpoint, this rule is said to cost the company approximately $500 million in lost income annually.

Well, he's trampling on my rights to enjoy a chick Fil a sandwich on Sundays and I demand he quit oppressing me like that.

But, and correct me if I'm wrong, but he said Chick-fil-a's belief (the entire company)*** about gay marriage is that it's not supported. Has he come out and said it is Chick-fil-a's policy (as a whole company) that they don't support those people who use birth control or are adulterers?

*** From the CS Monitor: "Cathy’s remarks earlier this week to a Baptist website, in which he affirmed the Atlanta-based company’s belief in “the biblical definition of the family unit.”

He's not Catholic, so I have no idea of his views on birth control. Being Christian I'm sure he is opposed to adultery

The point I'm trying to make is if he had come out and said, "Yes, I support marriage only between a man and a woman," it wouldn't be a big deal. So do millions of other people (and 99% of people on this board). But to go ahead and say that as a company, Chick-fil-a is against gay marriage is the issue here. As much as he would probably hate to believe it, there have to be some people who work for his company who support gay marriage.

    Chick-fil-a's mission statement is:

    "Be America's Best Quick-Service Restaurant"

At least according to the company's website.

Dumbest $hit that I have ever heard. Chick-Fil-A is one of the best fast food restaurants out there. What the hell do people expect devout Mormons to feel? Chick-Fil-A and the religious beliefs of it's owner is nothing new. Hell people have been crying for decades for them to open their doors on Sundays and they refuse to do it. Do you know how much revenue the guy is passing up for sticking to his religious beliefs on that one?

Now people are shocked that a devout Morman is so hard against Gay marriage? Give me a break.

Not mormon. Southern Baptist. Agree with Cathy's views or not, I admire his willingness to live his beliefs, even in his professional life. You can choose to eat there or not, if you disagree with him.........unless you are in.Boston, apparently, where your government will make that decision for you.

plus one...thats the bottom line. If I lived in Boston I would be more angry about a Mayor doing this than a man believing in God.

They don't make tons of dough. It's not a pizza place, they sell chicken. You've been going to the wrong place.
