  • Yankees fan here, but Braves ain't going anywhere with Gonzalez as manager. Personally been to three games under him and all three were losses. Some of his decisions just baffle me.

Agreed. I hate when older managers(no matter the sport) basically hand select the next person to replace them. Happens with legends all the time. Wren is a dbag and needs to go.

Maybe not. I believe we are like the third youngest team in baseball though so that doesn't help.

The panic is worse on my home board but I always laugh at football fan-esque mentalities applied to MLB.

This is like being down 14-0 after the 1st quarter of the first football game of the season and saying welp, there goes this year.

Red Sox fan and I agree. I about fell off the couch last year when I saw an interview from him and he said he doesn't keep up with on base stats. No wonder they were bottom 5 in MLB. They have a bunch of league average to below average hitters across the board except for Mccann. Heyward could step up but I don't think anyone else can be a top 5-8 player at his position on that roster.

Chippers money will go to pay raises but they need to find some sticks going forward. Might be time to trade Minor, or one of the three dominican pitchers probably not Teaheran. Maybe trade Hudson in a salary dump to sign someone. Jurgens obviously is worth more to the Braves than anyone else since they couldn't trade him this offseason.

You mean a Diaz-Heyward platoon doesn't excite you?

The Braves became far too inward looking about five or so years ago. Other teams have passed them by in how to properly evaluate and use players at the big league level. As a Mets fan it is hilarious to watch. Granted the Mets are still a worse team but the tears of Braves' fans give us strength.

Win the division then talk smack. Its been fun watching Chipper make the Mets his b!tch for almost two decades.

5 or so years ago...when their TV rights were sold for next to nothing on a 25 year contract and 2 months later the team was sold to a media conglomerate.

They have to be inward looking, it's the only way the can hold on to a competitive team. With the new TV deals other teams are signing, the Braves payroll at $90 million is eventually going to be bottom 1/3 of the league.

This is not the same as being down 14-0 in the first. We just got swept by one of the worst teams in the league and lost to the another one of the worst. We looked terrible all spring for the most part, and our great pitching prospects (besides Minor) looked like they are no where close to being ready.

    12 games * 4 quarters = 48 quarters of football

    162 games / 48 = 3.375 games.

The Braves are 0-4, so I guess it could be a little more than the equivalent of 1 quarter.

Every year good teams start out bad and make the playoffs. Every year bad teams start out hot and miss the playoffs. I'm not saying they'll make the playoffs but they'll finish above .500.

  • TBH I am worried because this exposes some problems, but I know it is early so I still have some hope.
