  • Really is a special year at this position nationally, particularly in California. Cravens, Goodman and Redfield all are special players.

How do you like OSU's chances with Bell ?

I saw you didn't mention them as one of the teams in the hunt but Bell was recently interview and was quoted saying “Ohio State was my favorite visit”

  • Already going to say a negative about this video. In terms of Vonn Bell ... currently his leader has to be Ohio State with him calling his visit to Columbus beyond anyone else.

I think in the end, he stays in the SEC, but of all the guys I mentioned, he's the hardest to read because of the large amount of interested schools, so I could end up being wrong about that.

Really hope you're wrong, it's been too long since we've had an elite safety. Coleman may have counted, but he was always more in the "very good" territory.

Yeah No kidding. You know what they say about when you Assume something.

When I saw this piece and saw the top interests you listed...it should have been labeled "Top Interests THIS WEEK"

Look I know you have to sell pieces and pander to the fan networks...get them buzzing etc. But making predicitons on where JUNIOR soon to be Senior kids are Leaning is just ABSURD!

Back in March when he got his first Offer from UT, he mentioned he was a Tennessee fan and has been for a while, and how he loves it up there in Knoxville.... then there was nothing else. Every week after something about some other Top school. I found myself thinking... man what has Dooley and Company done...have they just stop pursuing the kid... then a second later, I got the better of myself and realized you guys (247sports) are pimping him out as much as any other network.

Come on... 52 articles since March !!!!

No wonder these kids lead you on and don't tell / give away anything.... aside from the Zillions of calls you make to him every week along with all the coaches... crazy fans on facebook, subscribing to twiter etc. Its a bit ridiculous. No wait.... it's INSANE!!!

I am beginning to think these recruiting networks are every bit as bad as the schools and the money that is made off these kids.

Keep up the good work JC.... oh wait, I didn't mean to abandon Ohio State fan.. I better leave an open ended statement to keep him clicking back for more.... I could be wrong about that!

What an insulting (especially the part about the stalking fan on Twitter), garbage pail of a post, but I will respond...

Go look at the Top247 and notice that 100 of the players are committed to schools already for the Class of 2013. Are we just supposed to not do our jobs and cover it? I don't think you'd be very happy about that would, you? Are we just supposed to ignore half of the top players in the country and never have an opinion because it doesn't fit into your very minority idea about what you think we should be doing?

The kids don't tell anything because they are trying to build hype, period. There's very little out there that is not known well in advance of decision dates and by and large we stay quiet about it because we don't want to "ruin moments" for kids. Even if we don't know exactly where a player is going to go, we at the very least know within a couple of schools, yet you are going to take issue with mentioning 4-5 schools per prospect and you are especially angry about Vonn Bell, a kid that likely will not decide for months and has 35 offers?

Or maybe it's just because I didn't mention Tennessee in the piece- I believe that to be true. You are such a blind fan and it gets you so angry that your school wasn't mentioned that you want to call out the entire industry over it? That's very, very sad because I seriously doubt you are the slightest bit qualified or know the slightest bit about what you are talking about in terms of what we do, why we do it and when we do it.

  • And just to clarify in the last 60 days, of the "52" articles you cited, a whopping nine have included interviews/direct quotes from Vonn Bell and at least two of those were based off of one interview. So he was interviewed by our network less than 10 times in eight and a half weeks, despite racking up more than 30 new offers during that time period and taking numerous unofficial visits.

The other articles tagged to his profile are simply articles that mentioned him, which is pretty common for one of the top players at his position in the country.

You obviously frequent this site for a reason, if you think the industry is a problem then you are also part of that problem.

Mr. Schurburtt, thanks for responding to my post, which was clearly so beneath your professional standards of taking oneself too seriously. Especially when an OPINION is stated about one central statement and in return the response given back is spread across several points to which your anger is very clear, not mine. I'm not a blind fan, a Tennessee fan yes, an SEC yes and College football fan most especially. I enjoy following other players which are great kids and where they end up signing...case in point Trent Richardson, which goes against any logical party lines with fandom ( Bama / UT). But hey why try and explain another topic or reasoning when I am CLEARLY not qualified to think, write, or even express an opinion of variance to yours or other readers.

Since you are clearly the professional here, thank you for clearing the citation part up in your later post:

"And just to clarify in the last 60 days, of the "52" articles you cited, a whopping nine have included interviews/direct quotes from Vonn Bell and at least two of those were based off of one interview"

That was helpful and gave good insight. I guess that was maybe more of the "High Road" response I was expecting from an Industry Standard such as you. I certainly don't want to get banned (after 4 months an 33 posts) therefore I will respond with less pointed responses such as not to get anyone upset.

Maybe a good viewing of the movie Stripes and a quote of "lighten up Francis" would be more in order.... I would have respected and certainly appreciated that more.

But then again I don't take myself as serious as some others on here.

Thanks, I will be disco'ing the membership shortly so as not to add to the "problem".
