Brian Kelly to the NFL?

Unaware he was the general manager in Arizona. He did the most with what he had, which was Fitzgerald and nothing else on offense.

Whiz was pretty much the general manager and that was his downfall. Whiz is a very good coach and would be a good hire as long as he's just the head coach.

  • Would be an awful hire. That purple face crap ain't gonna work in the pro's unless you've shown you can win at that level.

    Imminent disaster.

I don't think any coach out there should be both the HC and GM. It's just WAY to much on anyone's plate for it to work. I can't remember anyone that had success as both a HC and GM. I'm sure that there has been one or two, but it fails 99% of the time.

I think a lot of it has to do with all the cap and money responsibilities that a GM has to deal with. A coach might be able to evaluate talent and all, but that doesn't mean that he can deal with the financial intricacies of building a team.

Andy Reid was the defacto GM in Philly (he made all the personnel decisions). Some people in here think he was great.

Bill Belichick. Just exclude any DB he's ever signed or drafted. Ever.

Ken Whisenhunt Todd Haley Bruce Arians

There are three right off the bat.

Edit: I'm also leaving out some obvious choices that are defensive minded since the Eagles have come out and said that they are going to hire an offensive minded coach.

I will give you Arians... I would like him over Kelly. But the other two are retreads.

Bell Belichik isn't the Patriots GM is he? Also Reid had someone above him as well taking care of the financial stuff. I think Joe Banner, now with the Browns, took care of that stuff with him for a long time didn't he?

Sure, but Reid built the team. That's all that matters. Whiz did as well and totally f'd up in not securing even an average QB.

Yes he is. Has been for at least a few years now.

I guess they promoted him to GM when Pioli went to the Chiefs?

Thanks for the info though. I honestly had no idea that he was coach and GM.

    It would take a lot.

Seriously though, as an Eagles fan, I wouldn't be opposed to it. Just look at the slop that is available anyways. Who is the big name that is out there? No one.

Not sure why. Dude has come out today and said he is ready to get back into coaching.

Because he is not an offensive minded coach and that is what the Eagles want.

Very true but I would think that Cowher is one of those coaches that is too good to pass up even if he's not exactly what you are looking for stylistically.

I would agree, but that's just not how the Eagles are thinking.

Not 100% sure how much it would play into it, but I also feel like he wouldn't be interested in going to his old team's in-state rival.

Normally I'd be inclined to agree, but he should get a big boost anyway for getting to the BCSNCG.

Worst playcalling I have ever seen in my life in a championship game just came from this man. If the Eagles hire him, the boos will make McNabb's look like child's play and deservedly so.

Wasn't worse than LSU last year.
