Brooklyn Nets about jump on the scene.....

Magic getting one hell of a deal depending on where these draft picks are.

    They're not great picks.

The picks would probably be in the high 20’s and The Magic can only get ONE every other year so the 3rd pick is in 2017. This is NOT a good deal, but there aren't any that are better.

Fair enough but I still don't think Deron going to the Mavs if Dwight's arrival in Brooklyn is delayed by a year is written in stone.

Also the notion that the Nets would be better without Dwight is ridiculous. Dwight is the best defensive center in the league whereas Brook Lopez might be the worst defensive center in the league, as for Humphries I don't want a player who gets more mentions on TMZ than on NBA Tonight. Marshon is the only piece of that possible trade that I wouldn't like to give up.

^^ Yup defense is the reason why Dwight makes all the difference. Having him in the lane (when healthy) can force teams into jump shots instead of getting to the rim. That's the real reason why he is one of the best players in the game.

Brook Lopez is undervalued greatly by the common fan. He was a 23 year old 7 footer averaging 20 ppg and 7rpg last year when healthy.

7rpg is terrible for a 7 footer and is defense is terrible. Here is a quote from John Hollinger on Lopez:

Defensively, the dude was just worthless. Lopez blocked a decent number of shots, but he was 65th of 67 centers in defensive rebound rate, which is just completely inexcusable. His rebound rate has dropped sharply each of the past two seasons.

In addition, his lack of mobility was a major burden on defense. He's a bad pick-and-roll defender, often leaving his guard hanging out to dry, and against a pick-and-pop center, he can't stay in the same zip code. Lopez also struggles to get back in transition. Partly as a result, Lopez had the worst defensive plus-minus of any Net, and it's not as if his backups were lock-down defenders.

Also with Joe Johnson on the team now he won't get the shots to average 20ppg.

Dwight is a bigger bitch than Lebron ever was. He never had trouble going to the hole against the Magic in the past. Plus Dwight is great and all but he is a liability in close games and would be a non factor in close playoff games because of his free throw shooting. Plus when the slightest thing goes wrong he bitches out for the rest of the game. On top of that he cares much more about being boys with JayZ and marketing himself than he does basketball

+1 I used like Dwight until these last few seasons. I hope he never wins a ring.

If he goes to the Nets I'm not sure he ever will, they have $30 million tied up in two declining players in JJ & GW.

    Well... Yeah..

But I highly doubt it happens.

Now I see why so many people hate the NBA. This is the way the NBA is now. Players want to be with their friends. They want to eat grilled cheese sandwiches together and get matching black-rimmed glasses. They are tired of playing against each other. It’s too hard.

    Oh, well.

  • If the Nets can get Deron to resign knowing Dwight won't come till next year and then they get Dwight to shut up and play it cool till then you may have Brooklyn as the NBA's best team in 2013-2014.

They'd spend this year pleading with Lopez to rebound and defend better and then at the end of the year they'd trade him for maybe two nice players and a mid first round pick. Then sign Dwight Howard.

Thats what recruiting is now as well, players care more about money and friends than rings.

  • I would pass on Howard. Keep Lopez, Kardashian guy and the picks and see how Howards back holds up.

Why are you so certain of this? I think the East will be a BOAT RACE as long as James, Wade, and Bosh are attracting veteran free agents like Ray Allen.

Also, Dwight has never started for a team not coached by Stan Van Gundy and Stan BUILT an offense around Dwight with a bunch of three point shooters. This was so he was able to be single covered all game. If he goes to Brooklyn, or any other team, his offensive numbers will diminish drastically and teams will double team and foul him all game long.

lol at it being a boat race. Miami isn't that good. They fought tooth and nail to win this year with the #1 seed Bulls basically bowed out after DRose went down. Miami will have to FIGHT TOOTH AND NAIL to win another title.

IDK about best team in the NBA and I don't know how they are going to acquire a bench if the trade for Dwight.

Assuming Deron signs for the max and they trade for Dwight then they will have a boatload of money tied up in 4 players,

    Deron - $19mil
    JJ - $20mil
    GW - $10mil
    Dwight - $19.5mil

  • I'm starting to think the only reason Dwight wants to go to Brooklyn is because it's the best team where he can be "the guy".

If he goes to the Clippers it's CP3's team.
If he goes to the Lakers it's Kobe's team.
If he goes to the Mavs it's Dirk's team.
If he goes to Chicago it's D Rose's team.

He likely doesn't think than Deron will pose much of a threat to his crown as "king" of Brooklyn.

Agreed. All of these superstars you just named carries themselves as "superstars", not whiny little babies. What is scary is howard hasn't tapped into half of what his potential could be. I don't think he ever will because he's too much of a nice guy and doesn't have that competitive drive as the guys you mentioned above. DH SHOULD be averaging 30 and 15 every night. Unfortunately, he's a poor free throw shooter and does not have a face up game.

Because Dwight has declared he is signing with Brooklyn after next year. He did that to hamstring Orlando allowing only one trade. No other team will get a long term re-signing from Dwight if they trade for him.

He also said he didn't want Stan fired and he didn't use the word "blackmail" he would sign with Dallas or Los Angeles , Brooklyn isn't the be all end all...
