Bryce Harper = Ken Griffey Jr?

The 25 and older crowd will remember. When Griffey came up as a 19 year old his talent and personality were intoxicating.
I still think one of the 10 best players for a season all time was Ken Griffey at age 27 in 1997. Bryce has that kind of ability.

It makes me sad when I think about how Griffey's career went.
Guy was such a great player his numbers would have been monstrous had he stayed healthy.
Same could be said for Mantle.

In the mid to late 90's he was unbelievable.
Sad he got over shadowed because of other players who did it the wrong way.

But that is me being biased as he was my favorite player, hence the number 24....

From what I have seen his swing is not a homerun swing like Griffey's.
If Hamilton didn't get hooked on meth he would have been the next Griffey.

Jr was my favorite player when I was a kid. I grew up outside Cincy and watched him play in HS at Moeller. Ran into him a couple months ago here in Orlando, I felt like a 12 year old....Mr Griffey could I get a picture...still it was totally cool getting to meet your idol though

Not comparing them as possible careers but how both started out.... Both came onto the scene and just took the spotlight and both had expectations placed on them that were high....

Griffey had that HR swing, it was effortless.... man what an ball player.... He deserved a ring just happen to play in Seattle .... he made that team good....

Last October I was walking out of the bathroom at the Minneapolis Airport and who was there on the escalator thingy? Mr. Ken Griffey Jr. He's a lot bigger than I thought he'd be and his wife wasn't bad looking for an older lady. I was too awestruck to say anything other than "hello Mr. Griffey" and shake his hand.
