Buckeyes move into Top Five

With the commitment of five-star defensive end Noah Spence (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) Ohio State now has a top five recruiting class nationally.

  • Quite the get. Sure was a pretty substantial jump. Looks like ND will be moving up a few spots, should we land Gunner.

Hold on busting a move here first........bananabuckeyes I would like a logical explination as to why gunner will be a Domer. Is he not a pro style QB. Other than local is that a good fit.

Defensive anyway. Though if you guys truly get Diamond and Dodson, the OL will be shored up too.

+1 As much as I hate to say it meshitagain has one of the better O line classes in the country. It's going to be quite fun watching Spence and Washington with 4.5 and 4.7 speed run by there tackles.

  • How is OSU "well behind" Michigan University when we are only 7 points behind and have more recruits coming?

You are correct. We need Dodson and Diamond to shore up the o line..

I think what you meant to say is that it will be fun watching Kalis & Co. steamroll Ohio's touted DL just like they dominated in HS.

If we were taking bets on Spence or Washington vs. Kails or any other frosh OT Michigan has...smart money would be on Spence/Washington. These dudes are for real.

Can't count the ones that haven't committed yet my man. Well behind=seven points is more significant of a margin than some of the others within the rankings.

I meant nothing negative by writing that.

Not sure if 247 ranks classes by position, but Scout does. Michigan is holding up pretty will in the trenches:

    OL Class (Top 5):
    1. Michigan
    2. Texas
    3. Florida
    4. Texas A&M
    5. Wisconsin

    DL Class (Top 5):
    1. Ohio State
    2. Florida State
    3. Mississippi State
    4. Michigan
    5. Texas

    LB Class (Top 5):
    1. Michigan
    2. LSU
    3. Alabama
    4. Texas
    5. Tennessee

Yep, the O-line still needs a lot of work for the Buckeyes. They lack talent and numbers up front. (Other than that, they're in great shape. Ha.) They will have some solid starters in 2012 -- Jack Mewhort, Andrew Norwell, Corey Linsley and Brian Bobek. Marcus Hall will probably be the fifth starter and I wouldn't classify him as "solid." And the depth behind those guys is atrocious.

    "Not so fast my friend."

OSU DL: top 4 commits have avg 247 rating of 96.25. (98,98,95,94)
FSU DL: top 4 commits have avg 247 rating of 96.25. (99,97,93,96)

Both have great classes and potential to be very, very good, but OSU is not best def. line class in the country.

"One of the best..." = yes.
