Burfict

  • I don't know if I missed something recently, but nfldraftcountdown.com has him at #30 to the Ravens.

It would almost be perfect for him to go to the Ravens and sit under Ray for a year or two, but how does he slide to 30? They even have the Eagles taking Kuechly at #15... No offense to Kuechly, but that would be a weird choice.

Did something happen at a pro day recently?

  • I thought I remember some people saying on ESPN that he is slipping because of his attitude problems this year. I'm sure some Pac 10 guys know more than me though

  • Read the Chiefs pick they mention him in that pick on your site.

  • If I remember correctly, in one of ASU's games towards the end of hte season, the announcers were talking about he and the coaching staff not getting along. It was to the point to where they weren't on speaking terms. In that game he didn't play hard at all and couldn't get off blocks. Just really dragging his ass. He's a really talented player and Ray Lewis would be a great mentor for him. But I wouldn't let him slide back that far, if I were a GM.

  • You know any other good sites for mock drafts? An old roommate of mine always looked at nfldraftcountdown so that's what I've been using but if anyone knows a site that has been proven more accurate let me know.

I know Kuechly is a damn good player, and has a lion's heart beating cancer mid-career... so I couldn't complain seeing him go ahead of Burfict. It just seems that Burfict has a ridiculous athleticism and intensity advantage.

Just tough to take someone like that over Kuechly.... polar opposites. Unless Burfict is 10x better, it seems smart to stay away.

  • The guy is a psycho. It makes him really good at times, and very bad at times. If he could control himself he would be the best linebacker in the draft, but he can't. He was a long time commit to us and we lost him apparently because he had issues getting into school. Even though we had a huge hole at linebacker after 2008, I'm glad we didn't get him. Complete clubhouse cancer.

    You're thinking of Mark Herzlich

Ahhh yeah, you're right. Alright so in that case, is Kuechly worthy of a mid 1st round pick? I was giving him bonus points because I thought he was the one he fought off cancer.

Kuechly also benefits from playing on a bad defense. He got all those tackles cause he's the only real threat. Nobody else made plays. But still he is a good lb who will prolly suprise folks in the league next year.

My bet is Kuechly goes to the Eagles. They always seem to go after linebackers like him, which is why they're perpetually needing new linebackers.

Well this was my point.... would they be nuts to take a chance on Burfict at 15?

Otherwise, I bet they trade this pick.... no way they take Kuechly at 15... I think that might cause a major backlash that they can't afford after keeping Reid and his crew.

    Fuzz

  • Yeah, you're probably right... Burfict should go sit under Ray. But by the stuff I'm hearing, he would probably show up with a head a few notches above a career pro bowler

Disagree, a lot of Philly fans like Kuechly and our MLB play sucked lasr year

    Michmania

  • I saw Burfict live several times this year. From what I seen, he is no where close to being first round material. He sure does look the part but it is quite disturbing to see a linebacker walking while plays are still going on. He has no hustle. I hate to sound like a hater but Burfict played really really bad in the games I saw.

I feel like the Ravens would be one of the only teams in the league where he can actually become a potential impact player. Under the tutelage of Ray Lewis, maybe yes. But the kid really needs to get his act together

    TempeWolverine

  • Alright, I'm sold on Burfict being a dud.... if the kid can't even pull it together in college, no way he keeps it straight when he sees that first pay check. What a waste.

Michmania, I agree philly needs to take a MLB... but not sure Kuechly can show up and make the immediate impact. I am hoping he can pull it off.

Otherwise, not sure what they do with the pick.

    Fuzz

  • Burfict = million dollar talent with a 10 cent brain. Lewis would be perfect for him. He'd be forced to get his mind right.

What sanctions? Our 75 are better than your 85.

    Action Figure

  • Have any of you watched Kuechly play? Kid shits on Burfict. Guy is so smart and instinctive that is why he had so many tackles. It's not because he played on a "bad" defense.

  • I hope you're right on that kroner... hoping the birds pick him up....

If not, hoping they can dump Jackson, pick up Floyd, and find a MLB somewhere else.

    Fuzz

  • As an Eagles fan, I really hope they dont pick Kuechly. They play the wide nine and need big backers who can get off blocks. Im tired of having the smallest front 7 in the league. Ill take a flier on Burfict. We have no one on defense who is ahitter or that the offensive players fear

Believe me. I hope Kuechly falls all the way to the Giants for some of the reasons mentioned. I had some reservations about the kid too before this year but he is the real deal. It was not uncommon to hear him mentioned on just about every defensive play. He just doesn't miss many tackles either after he makes contact which is why he is literally a tackling machine.

    Would you be satisfied if....

The eagles have another weak year 2012

    1. Reid gets canned
    2. Jackson is gone, but they took a receiver this draft that makes up for him somehow
    3. They draft a top MLB next year
    4. Get a new coach that is worth a damn

    Fuzz

  • If you want a backer who is slow to react and thus leads him to getting blocked out of the play 90% of the time, Burfict is your man. If you want a backer who flies into tackles late head first like a regular Tom Gholson, take Burfict. Kuechly is exactly what the Eagles need in my opinion.

Flying into tackles late head first sounds like a penalty waiting to happen now, unfortunately

  • Used to be a trait that showed some intimidation factor in defensive players.... of course not just ridiculously stupid hits, but the occasional "i'm watching you" type of tackle.

    Fuzz

  • Kid is a bad ass and isn't afraid to bust heads. Will fit in perfectly with the Ravens if they pick him.
