  • Thread is funny: when I asked abt this the other night, Burns wasn't a big loss because he was close to retirement.

    Now, FSU was a step down for him (actually a lateral move and may be a boost in pay).

    It made sense for him to stay there: he had time built up, he will get a bump in his salary and he faces no challenges there (just to maintain the current great level of RB play).

    Congrats to him. He made the best decision for him and his family.

    How exactly does one win "National Champions?" I always thought they were "national titles".

    Again, congrats to the coach for making the best decision for him & his family. Obviously, he is a class above some of the fans of his school.

    It was a lateral move. The only reason for him leaving would be getting worn down of working for Saban, or higher pay, which Bama would match whatever FSU offered. If Burns left it would be due to mutual feelings on both end IMO.

    Burns is a very good coach and glad he's staying at UA.

    QB's are more important that WR's. Therefore, Dameyune Craig took a step down to leave. Mark Stoops went to where careers go to die. Eddie Gran took a big step back, title be damned.

    Craig took more money and went back to coach at his Alma Mater. Stoops got a HC job and took Eliot (our DE coach) with him to be his Defensive Coordinator. Gran (our RB coach) got an OC job at Cincy and Hudson (our LB coach) left for a DC job at Purdue. I am not sure how that would be classified as taking a step back for anyone except possibly Craig (although from what I have read he got a 150K bump in salary and let's be honest- Jimbo coaches the QBs).

    However do not let the facts stop you from bashing FSU.......carry on.
