Both Seattle and San Francisco are giving up 15.6 points per game right now. Seattle is giving up 10 more yards per game than the 49ers. 49ers ranked 2nd best defense in total yards, Seattle ranked 3rd.

I would say both defenses are "great".

Both offenses are averaging 25 points per game.

I would say its a tossup, even if it is played in San Francisco.

They play this Sunday night, can't wait for that game.

Don't think you need a power run game. You have to stop it, yes, but not have one. Brees and the Saints....

It helps a lot when you are playing teams on the road, especially if you are going into a cold weather environment. It's not a necessity, but I would say that defense, running the ball and efficient qb play are the top three things that stick out when you look at former Super Bowl champions.

It's not always the case, but I would say that it's more often the case than not.

I personally think that they could win a game at any of those three team's home field on any given Sunday at this point.

I would say that San Fran would certainly be the toughest of the three though because of their defense. I think anybody would agree that GB and ATL's defenses are lacking for sure. Each of them have a couple of players that can be game changers, but as a defense on the whole, they are both not nowhere near what Seattle or San Fran's are.

I think that Seattle's corners can neutralize both GB's and ATL's passing attack because neither of them have much of a running game. It certainly won't be easy and anything can happen with Rodgers and Matty Ice but Seattle's defense is STOUT. Here is to hoping that ATL gives the ball more to Jacquiz Rodgers because I haven't been impressed with Michael Turner this year and GB's running backs are even worse. I'll admit that I've always been a Falcons fan but if I'm being honest, I think that Seattle is the second best team in the NFC right now.

Seattle would not beat GB in Lambeau. Won't happen, especially after what happened in Seattle. Of the three games I mentioned, they could possibly win in ATL. However, if you think they can neutralize Roddy and Julio then I suggest you watch some of their games. I am not even a Falcons fan, but their WRs are some of the most physical in the league. The issue would be with Matt Ryan.

I'd love to see Seattle and Atlanta match up in the playoffs. Seattle DB vs Atlanta WR would be awesome.

And Seattle's corners are the most physical in the league. I hope that your right about Julio and Roddy White running circles around them. Maybe it's because I'm such a Falcons fan that I'm cynical about them when it comes playoff time. They are going to have to prove that they can do it in the playoffs before I get all emotionally invested though.

I think that you are underestimating Seattle's corners though. Both are physical, fast and I think the shorter one is 6'2" and the other is 6'3".

    I'll buy.

The NFL is crappier than usual, so any team from the NFC could make it to the Super Bowl

The NFL has definitely lost its luster, the season is like a NBA game, only the last few weeks(minutes in NBA game) matter

Where did I state Julio and Roddy would run circles around them? I said they are two of the most physical WRs in the league. If there are WRs that can match the Seattle physicality at DB, the Falcons can do it. I wouldn't be worried about the WRs as much as Matt Ryan not choking.

Take it easy tanto. I didn't exactly take your statement wrong I just put it in a different context. I got what you were saying and I'm not trying to argue with you. It's just an opinion. Hell I hope that you are right. I'm just worried about the Falcons choking in the playoffs period. They haven't given me a reason not to worry at this point the past few years.

I'm a lot more worried about their defense than I am their offense this year for sure. Julio has become a fvcking monster and Jacquiz Rodgers is dangerous as hell. I actually would like to see him get the ball a lot more. Actually in the last six weeks the Falcons have looked either unbeatable or straight up soft at times. There doesn't seem to be a lot of consistency with them at all. I'll keep my fingers crossed though.

Well I'm certainly not going to change my opinion after tonight lol.

My Redskins prediction is looking a lot better seeing as though the Giants have gone in the toilet. Really looking forward to the Cowboys/Redskins game next week.

  • I would love to hear those that sold on the Seahawks ITT comeand eat some crow at this point. They look like the best team in football right now.

I'm very happy to say I sold on the Seahawks. They are great at home, but are 3-5 on the road and won't play a home playoff game. I will take my chances with GB, SF, or ATL at home.

  • I may be in the minority here but I just dont see the same falcons team of the last few years the whole knock on atlanta the whole time has been the abilty has been inconsistency at qb and the ability to get vertical down the field and be explosive on offense well problem averted at least statisticly Ryan is second in the league in passing yards and third in total offense this is a monumental change from the last few years if they can protect matt ryan upfront Atlanta will burn you just too much skill talent around him. Oh yeah and the fact that the falcons have choked the last few years makes them even more dangerous all they need to do is win and the confidence will soar with falcons. The last few weeks they have played like a team that is pissed off and disrespected and they always seem to be limping in too the postseason years past they look as good as any team in the nfc currently in my estimation.

  • Atlanta has never won anything. Green Bay you can put some faith in. Niners are gonna be tough and after last night, if you're not buying on the Seahawks, you're watching a different game than I am.

3rd highest scoring margin for a 3 game span in the history of the NFL. Not too shabby.

Can anybody name 1 or 2? btw, I don't know who they are, but I'm guessing the 85 bears.

  • Never commented on the original thread but as a 49er fan we got our asses handed to us last night. Seattle is a tough place to play but the Seahawks defense sold out to stop the run to make Colin beat them and it worked. Credit to their DC for stopping the inside power run with the pulling guard. Their DEs played contain really well to stop the option game and there was just nothing we could get going offensively. Russel Wilson is blooming into a star and he makes that offense go as much if not more than Marshawn Lynch does. His scramble ability kind of reminds menof Steve Young in a way in that hes always looking downfield and thats going to get you beat if you dont cover guys long enough as hes stretching plays out. They pretty much torched us everywhere ; through the air and on the ground.

That is real convient coach Atlanta has never won anything what about the seahawks? Have they not been to 1 superbowl and suffered the same fate as atlanta did in their only superbowl appearance. No one knows who is going to win the NFC but too say the falcons have no shot is absurd. They have most physical and explosive recieving corps in the league and a quartetback that is #1 in completion percentage and 2 in the league in passing yards which by the way doubles his seasonal production the past three regular seasons. Not trying to flame you coach its just the falcons are a much more dangerous team on offense and their defense can turn you over.

Hey, I agree, but this is the same (relatively) team that has bowed out early in years past in the playoffs. Carroll has the Seahawks humming right now at the right time. It's a complete tossup in the NFC and the Pack has won 10 of their last 11. I'm just not resting my laurels on a team that notoriously has played well in the regular season and shit the bed in the playoffs.... I could be wrong, but you never know til they play in a couple weeks.

  • Classic Pete Carroll game...he wanted full control of an NFL team, he got it.

    Great win.

  • It is not the same team just because the defense is improved by leaps and bounds and the run d has been stronger since spoon made it back off injury atlanta has made much better quarterbacks than russell wilson look average this year particulary at home. It is safe to say that the majority of the teams in the nfc playoff discussion have protected homefield in the regular season but outside of a couple of down games by ryan no other team on the exception of the Seahawks have been more dominant at home than the falcons and the falcons are hungry and pissed off it is going to take a great game by anyone if they expect to beat the birds in atlanta this year. By the way wanted to say to you that i enjoy your posts you have good knowledge of the game.

  • Atlanta is not a threat to anyone in the playoffs until proven otherwise. every year they do the same thing and ball out in the regular season and blow it in the first round of the playoffs. I refuse to believe they will make it anywhere until I see them actually win a playoff game

if Atlanta and seattle play eachother today I take the seahawks every time

You are clearly not watching the games then phillip bc if you were you obviously would see that atlanta is clearly not limping into the playoffs and that they are clearly more explosive on offense people just see what they dont want to see i guess but atlanta is a threat to anyone they play and you can take that to the bank dude!

I have seen plenty of their games. as a bucs fan our are always blacked out so we end up with Atlanta and the saints. you guys didn't limp into the playoffs the last couple of times. for whatever reason ryan and mike smith go full retard and wilt when they get to the post season. I don't know why but that's what keeps happening. I just refuse to take Atlanta seriously until they prove they can win a postseason game. they also had some very shaky wins over bad teams, Carolina and Oakland, that would worry me when I was in the playoffs.

and before you say im a pissed buc fan I already know, we will lose next week. I just call it as I see it. I don't trust Atlanta in the playoffs because of past experience. I thought they were going to destroy the giants last year and we saw what happened.

  • Seattle is 3-5 on the road. Those three wins are Carolina, Buffalo, and Chicago. They are a great team at home, but will not play a single home game during the playoffs. Unless Arizona wins at SF, then Seattle will play at Washington or Dallas. If they win there, which they should, they will go to Atlanta. The NFC Championship will probably be played at Lambeau. As hot as Seattle looks, they are the same team they've always been.

It's funny that people keep knocking Atlanta, yet ignore Seattle's road record.
