Pertaining to the OP, I've got the best of both worlds. My dog is a black lab, German shepherd mix. He's almost two years old. Roughly 75 lbs. I'm only a fan of big dogs.

Love him to death. He has a great personality. Very playful and energetic. Love kids. We just got him certified to be a therapy dog.

How bout a Goldendoodle. Golden retriever and Standard Poodle mix. Does not shed at all, great with everyone, smart and loves to play. Will be anywhere from 50-70lbs. This is my 5 month old Captain.

English Bulldog for sure. They are awesome.

Regardless what dog you end up picking, you're going to thinks its awesome and the best breed of all time. A few years from now, you'l be on this board telling some other potential dog owner to buy whatever breed you chose.

The only wrong choice would be a "dog" less than 20 pounds, or a cat.

Have to agree with this. I don't look down on people that don't rescue, but I believe that should be the first place you look. A lot of breeds are over bred these days so people can cash in on puppies. This does nothing but cause health problems for the breed.

Ha, I felt the same way at first, the wife talked me into this breed. My dog is all golden in play and spirit, loves the water. The only poodle in him is his smarts and not shedding. He is by far the best dog I've ever had.

I just don't like the way they look. I've always liked straight hair..I really don't mind shedding. Friend has a labradoodle and I don't think it's a good looking dog.

My English Bulldog was great. (She recently passed ) They're just too much upkeep.
