CALI vs Georgia

  • Which state produces the better football talent??? Is this even a debate? CA has the most NFL players in the NFL, IMO FL, CA, Texas are interchangable as the top 3 states in producing talent, way ahead of the other states. Georgia without a doubt is 4, but not even close to the big 3 IMO. Now Georgia does have 2 out of tha 3 top players in the Nation this year in Foster/Ndkmeciche, but still is aways from Calis talent. What prompted this thread is ESPNUs150, wear back2back years they have more GA players in their list then CALI, FL has like twice the amount of players as Cali in the ESECpN150. SEC bias??

  • Its not an SEC bias. California's best kids almost all play in the Army game, and ESPN wants to pump their Under Armour game as much as possible.

Really...who cares? What counts is who is on our team, they'll be prepared, and drafted, to play in the NFL just the same.

California has a lot of great athletes, but they don't all want to play football. Texas for example, has more HS football programs than California. The fact that Stanford, UCLA and USC have the most NCAA National Championships proves that it's not all about football, but all round sports. It's just the athletic culture in California.

The SEC is King, they play football like it's never been played before...Big Boy football. California does not. Like I said before, the NFL and Canton just has to get the message they keep telling us...that our boys can't play football.

Calofornia? None. It's not a real place. California? Who cares? California, Texas and Florida produce more talent than any other state. "Per capita," which it seems you are heading towards, is nothing but a moral vicory for small backwater states that nobody wants to live in.

Foster moved to Alabama, but you are still right, Georgia is home to 2 of the top 3.

USC heads out of state first. They can come in later in the process with Cali kids. Eddie Vanderdoes doesn't have an offer and he's one of the top 3 DT's in the country. Actually think he's an Oregon lean.

    This.

Especially with limited schollies USC can't throw out offers to the kids that grew up USC fans and will commit on the spot without their evaluation period being over. They get in with the OOS kids early in the process, and if they bite Lane cloaks them until NSD.

It's not so much as if they deserved to be there, as it was their opponents. For USC not to be considered in 2008 was absolutely ridiculous, as it was clear to any clear thinking person with football knowledge that USC was the best team in the nation that year.

This is how it works Ruff...in 2008 the SEC had Timmy and his awesome offense..their defences were nothing to brag about that year..so, the honks were saying that it was all about offense - not defensive play, which was not "exciting" enough. USC had a kick ass defense...it just took till the end of the season for the offense to catch up.

So, now that they are back to outstanding defense...offense is not important. I was on the National Board at that time, and that was what they were telling us...it's offense more exciting than a defensive team. Whatever the SEC happens to be strongest in, that's what counts.

It is very clear that some people haven't a clue about national recruiting. Offer the OOS studs, even if you know you'll never get them...you establish a national footprint. I can't remember if it was McCord or Howard who told the coaches at his official visits, that no one could top the USC official (per interview on Scout)...then when he committed to the U, he tweeted - on LOI day, encouraging other players to come out here to see USC, and how great it was. We did end up with Agholor and Williams. Your state will not have the top talent in every position, every year.

Look at USC's roster - where it counts, it is overwhelmingly California and west coast kids.

California is an agricultural state, figure that out.

California is also one of the most culturally, and ethnically diverse states in the country...Los Angeles, in the world. Figure that one out.

California athletes do not all want to be football players. I've already stated that three California schools, Stanford, UCLA and USC hold the most NCAA National Championships in sports. Not to mention the Olympic athletic tradition. MIld weather all year round is an athletes dream.

Using and comparing the state populations is not a valid comparison...
