And yes, the right to bear arms is a basic American right. Doesn't matter what race or sex you are, you should be able to defend yourself.

Play Assault Rifle vs. Sporting Rifle
The media and the anti-gunners are trying to tell Americans that "assault weapons" need to be banned for public safety. The problem is, assault rifles were banned in 1986. What they want to ban now are semi-automatic sporting firearms. The firearms they want to ban account for less than 1% of the firearms used in crime. We need to stop this mindless attack on our Constitutional rights. 2. There is already an assault weapons ban. Semi-automatic rifles are not assault weapons.

Don't characterize me as a lunatic. I know that's what you left-leaning gun control advocates do, but just stop.
Until you can cease the stereotypes, discussing this matter with you will be pointless.
But I'll just say... yes, there are times when assault rifles can be used and have been needed for self-defense. Were you alive for the LA riots? Yes? No? Like I said, don't bother answering if you are going to preface your reply with "how come you.....?" when you don't even know me.
Denying an American the right to defend themselves is just as shameful than denying voting rights.
And I'm sure that if and when you'll ever need to defend yourself, your snarky comments will provide all the firepower you'll need.
