One is the new stadium/facilities they just built, and the fact that tedfords contract will be up soon. Once that happens they will hire a better coach with the new PAC money and their program will soar. Nebraska has nowhere to go with no fertile recruiting base. They're basically on the same level right now with Cal having 1000x more potential to be great.

And they're still a 7-8 win team. Also, you make it sound like they were doing great until they hired Tedford and he screwed everything up. He's the best coach they've had in my lifetime. Where is it guaranteed that if they replace him the next guy will be better? When was the last time they had a better coach than Tedford?

It doesn't matter what happened in the 80s and 90s. Cal is a great school sitting on some of the most fertile recruiting ground in the country. Nebraska might be a blue blood, but sitting in the middle of nowhere without a Tom Osbourne/Chip Kelly type of innovator will make you mediocre.

Does it really matter? It is clear by now that neither Tedford nor Pelini will lead their respective teams to a National Title. Both schools could win it in the future. But it would depend on who is hired next.

Because the last couple of years have been CU's worst years in the history of our program! Damn dude, do you not get how big of a trainwreck Halk was? We had the talent to barely compete in the MWC last season. We started offensive players in the secondary for gods sake because Hawkins didn't really recruit in 2009 or 2010 or 2011 and the players he did get (Scott, Kasa, etc) have pretty much all left. We have had nothing. Nearly 50% of CU's student population comes from out of state, with damn near all of it coming from California. I really don't think you understand how bad it was under Halk.

You're right on one front, the higher ups don't care. Having said that, Benson is old and about to retire. DiStepheno is wishy washy but in the end I think he really wants athletics to be competing for titles (he finally said it late last week) and Bohn is finally getting support from him (the new basketball facility and the upcoming football facility and Folsom renovation and seeing the good that the basketba;l program did for the university when it's not our main sport). CU fans are getting vocal about it though with a regent election coming up that will play a big part in our future.
Saying the students or alumni don't care however is flat out wrong. Look at our turnaround in basketball on both fronts. The students right now, don't have much interest because we haven't been good, but it was the same thing with basketball a few years. A few years ago, you could show up at a basketball game 10 minutes after tip off and count the number of students that were there. Last season, our student section was packed and made the top 10 for student sections and made The Pit in ABQ feel like a home game for us against UNLV and Bailor.

Thanks for going into detail on that , doesn't change the fact that the state of Colorado is limited quality wise for athlete's and they don't have enough prestige to outrecruit for out of state talent.
As stated, Enough to draw out of state kids from their home states? I don't see it. Enough to keep their limited talent home? Not the last couple of years.
