  • Do you agree with the Rev. Pat Robertson that marijuana should be legal?

That is their question, I don't even know who Rev. Robertson is, but find it interesting that we are currently sitting at 72% YES.... thoughts?

Also, this is just a poll on the front page cnn.com

  • I do not partake, but it should be legal. A lot less dangerous than alcohol.

  • I know it's cliche but I'll repeat, Alcohol and Cigarettes being legal the way they are and marijuana being illegal will be something societies chuckle at for hundreds of years. It may come across as ridiculous but just as the group think mentality of Germans during WWII is studied ad nauseum I think the dynamics which led to people sucking cancer and emphysema into themselves for generations will blow minds for generations.

    I could see that

I basically quit smoking cigs cause of how people are about them these days

Then they got a lot more expensive and banned everywhere and I was just like, alright you win... jesus

  • If they made it legal, They would lose money, Anti drug companies would run out of business, And much more but I really don't see anything bad about marijuana, If they legalized it I'm sure the crime numbers would go down

  • Does anybody think it's a possibility if Obama gets re-elected that he attempts to legalize it in his second term? At some point, someone is going to have to get some balls and just do it....

Are any of the Republican candidates open about this issue?

  • This whole country needs to smoke a bowl it seems. I hope my kids never touch substances but if you told me my son goes to college and becomes a stoner I'd mumble thank God. Not out drinking and driving, likely going to be bed at midnight, etc.

I've had people legitimately tell me it is as dangerous as meth. Some people just want to believe in the boogeyman.

I don't think it will be a law introduced by congress, but a SCOTUS ruling when one of the states legalizes. Just an opinion though. Only way Obama would attempt is if Dems hold both houses.

Well, a few states have tried to flat out legalize it already haven't they? It seems like they keep getting overruled by crotchety ass uncle sam.

Some states have tried and failed. What most states and municipalities have done is decriminalize marijuana, but you can still get federal criminal charges. I think the biggest thing with a federal challenge to a state would be the heignten conversation about marijuana, which could in turn lead to changes in federal law. Ruling-wise, I have no idea.
