Calvin Johnson or Adrian Peterson?

These are the 2 best talents in the league IMO. And the best non-QBs on offense in the NFL.
If you had to pick one of them who would it be and why?
I wanted the Lions to draft Peterson and he would be my choice now as well. My feeling is no matter how good you are at WR, you just can't have the same impact on the game as a dominant RB.

AD, he is just so dominant and like you said a dominant RB can change a game more than a dominant WR.

Calvin Johnson without a doubt, because of injury and longevity. RBs lose their step at around 30. AD isn't human, though, so maybe he'll make it to 32 or so. However, he has a lot of mileage on his legs and the position naturally results in more serious injuries than WR, due to contact.
They're both 27, I believe, but Calvin should be able to remain elite for a longer period of time. JMO.

RB's can also catch the ball out of the backfield.. WR's hardly ever run the ball.

I agree..."No contest" is silly.
I had the pleasure of watching CJ break Jerry Rice's record on a 4-12 team. With a QB that went from throwing 40 TDs last year to less than 20 this year despite teams focusing on Calvin.

Depends on the qb that I had. If I have a garbage qb, then it would easily be AD. If I had a good passing qb, then I would take Calvin.

That's true, and I agree but one could point out that the Lions made the playoffs last year, and the Vikings were 3-13

Lol, I sure did but now I realize that I was wrong and that was a stupid comment because they're both so damn close. Ha my bad about that but thinking back on the question, it's way to close to say "without a doubt''

If you are a GM, you take CJohnson. He offers the longest ROI.
If you are a fantasy football GM, you take AP. He can get the scores and the touches, but over the long haul in a league that is getting bigger, while catering to offensive WRs (with the BS personal fouls), AP's longevity has to be questioned.

More like AD uses lots of HGH so he may make it to 32.

I would choose Calvin because he should be healthier for a longer period of time. Than I ask Mike Shanahan to pick a sixth round rb

I love my lions and megatron, but gotta go with "all day". An elite wr can Only carry an offense so much. An elite RB can carry an offense anywhere, let alone a subpar qb and bunch of no name wr's (aka the MN Vikings once harvin went down). Calvin was double teamed all year, sometimes even triple teamed, our running game was still awful

As much as I love to pound the ball. I would have to go with Megatron because AD is far too injury prone. With his reckless running style he will constantly be hurt. Now if one were to take injuries and longevity out of it the equation I would go with AD.

Maybe we have different definitions of "constantly hurt". Dude's missed 7 games in 6 years. Just 3 more than Calvin over the same period. AD also has 22 more TDs over that span.
