Cameron Clear commits to Texas A&M

    From what I hear we have six spots left. Hopefully Tony Brown and JaQuay Williams commit. Sumlin flew to Memphis to visit Clear's parents, then flew to Arizona to see Clear.

    I don't see how y'all have 6 spots left. Y'all signed 19, 18 enrolled 3 maybe 4 have left the program and have 32 commits now. You guys can count 7 back plus the 25 normal commits a year with 85 within a 4 year period. You could take 3 or 4 more depending on the exact number of guys lost between signing day and the start of the season

    I think he means Tony Stevens not Tony Brown

    I) signed 19 last year (4 go back to the previous class, and 1 didn't make it in)......so 14 total for '12

    ***currently have 7 guys who plan on coming in early at this time....there are 11 total spots left from the '12 class that can still be filled if I understand it correctly.....so they anticipate bringing in another 3 for the early signing period

    II) Have 25 verbals for '13, but there are going to be a few grade casualties (anticipated) and maybe a MLB loss (so "maybe" 2 or 3 here depending on what happens, and maybe less don't know yet)

    The coaches are covering their bases this season, there isn't room for error of kids not making it in.....Aggies knew depth was going to be an issue coming into the SEC especially on the DL and LB......so a solid class this year will get them headed in the right direction and the '14 class should help polish off two good offseasons for the Ags.

    You can only sign 25 in the sec. Since y'all had 18 enroll you have 7 that can count back. Then the 3 or 4 that left the program.

    All I can tell you is what has been explained on Gigem247

    Obviously Sumlin wouldn't be taking verbals from kids if they knew they were going to get crushed by the SEC on signing day. Feel free to head to the Aggie board and ask Taylor Hamm for a full explanation.

    I'm pretty sure I understand how it all works out, but for fear of sounding like a fool won't post it, I'll just direct you to the best source.

    Well i know you can only go back one year. You have a 25 scholarship per year limit. And can't exceed 85 at any given time. If y'all signed 18 last year and then had 4 people leave then you can count 7 back to 2012 class and add the 4 that left the program. As long as you don't go over 85 limit. So technically y'all could sign 36. 4 more slots right now

  • The way I understand it we get to use the Big 12 rule when counting back to last years class, so we can take 25 that count towards the 2013 class and count 11 back to 2012 under the Big 12 rule.`So we can have about 36 in this years class. The 85 limit is confusing to me, but I assume the coaches have it worked out.

    They going to smoke together? Saw that A&M processed a commit. Who was it and what was the public statement on it? A&M catching on quick I see. Probably wished they wouldn't have taken all those 3* kids so early. They have better kids lining up to get in now. Must suck to be an UT fan these days.
