Can Les Miles win a NC without Saban's players?

  • I'm not really sure he can.

He has came close a couple times. Had they been able to stop the last drive against Bama then Lsu would have been playing Georgia for the right to curb stomp ND. I bet he gets another one before he leaves Lsu.

Thank goodness for Les' offensive play calling prowess and Chavis' mustang defense.

  • One thing he has going for him is that Lsu plays in the SEC west. Any team that can go through that gauntlet with 0-1 loss is probably the best team in the country. So if he can beat Bama, A&M, and their East opponent Florida in the same year then they are probably NC championship game bound. It sucks that the last time he did it that Bama was waiting on them.

Also, I'm surprised Lsu fans haven't responded yet. Maybe it's too early in LA.

I dream of a day when chickens can cross the road without having their motives questioned.

  • He needs to get a qb that can play the position. I wouldn't call mettenberger or Jefferson, cream of the crop type guys.

    20707canefan

  • Yes, if the offense can become more reliable.

I don't really buy into the winning it with Saban's players or anything like that, but my answer is no.

He would have to do it this season, IMO, or the chance becomes so low that I just don't see it possible, but he doesn't have the team this season to do it. No way Miles will be able to hold it together for 2 playoff games. His coaching goofs will pop up against 2 quality opponents in a row at some point, that's for sure.

Even the year he won had to be the craziest year in college football to allow a 2-loss team to win a BCS title. He's the Mack Brown of the SEC (although not just past his prime....stupidity is his problem). Instead of a amazingly special type QB in VY, it took an amazingly baffling type season.

  • Les shats talent and squanders opportunity. They win in spite of him. I hope he stays there a long time. Les is the classic 'substitute teacher' He gets up for the bama game but was fortunate to beat ole miss at home and arkie.

  • Yes, imo LSU is not that far behind us (bama)..the way that team plays on d and the strong run game they have..every year bama has to bring their (A) game..imo BAMA LSU has become the best rivalry in college football..

  • With Saban's players? Not exactly sure how many of Saban's players were left in '07. Only undefeated team in regulation that year.

    Hoopergdawg

  • What people forget is that every senior on that roster was part of a 25th ranked recruiting class years before. Les' great recruting and mixture of his own talent won that title. Besides, weve done better with his talent regardless of not winning a title. It takes luck to win it, like Alabama backing in to the game two years in a row in a broken system and bc of the Bama reputation.

Okay so the season he went 13-0 leading up to the BCSNCG curb stomping everyone but one team and Saban having to go on National TV to beg to get into the game and he can't do it ... Trolololololololololololol

Lets not talk about Bamas fake dynasty. Great teams play anyone anywhere. They do not get a graduate of the school to give them the easiest schedule in the SEC while giving their biggest rival the hardest. The proof is there. So save the bullshit for somebody dumber than you.

  • Its just good business. Anything that helps the state of Alabama helps Birmingham, which is where the SEC HQ is. Now I'm not gonna sit here and say that bama wouldnt run the table with a tough schedule, because they are good, but scheduling puts them ahead of the game. Look at next year for instance. We, probably Bamas biggest threat, draw Florida and UGA from the SEC East, while they get Tennessee and Kentucky. The odds should be against us but I enjoy it because we get more quality games during the year to enjoy. Of course, I live in Alabama so all it does is boost the economy when bama wins so its a win-win situation for me. Just good business.
