Can someone explain the Texas Tech rankings in relation to WVU?

  • 24 of 60 voters have WVU higher and many of them by a considerable enough spread that WVU is ranked higher than a team that beat them 49-14.

Here is my favorite poll anomaly

Rob Long: WVU 16, TTech Unranked
Mark McCarter: : WVU 17, TTech Unranked
Kyle Ringo: : WVU 18, TTech Unranked
Kyle Meinke: WVU 14, TTech Unranked
Jermey Sampson: WVU 18, TTech Unranked
Adam Zucker: WVU 14, TTech Unranked
Ira Schoffel: WVU 13, TTech 25
Scott Wolfe:: WVU 13, TTech 24
John Clay: WVU 16, TTech 24
    Ferd Lewis : WVU 15, TTech 24
Chris Murray: WVU 12, TTech 24
Carrie Anderson: WVU 16, TTech 24
Brent Axe: WVU 13, TTech 23
Joe Walljasper: WVU 15, TTech 22
Ben Frederickson: WVU 14, TTech 22
Brandon Marcello: WVU 17, TTech 21
Hays Carlyon: WVU 17, TTech 21
Harry Plumer: WVU 15, TTech 21
Garland Gillen: WVU 13, TTech 21
Cecil Hurt: WVU 16, TTech 20
Robert Cessna: WVU 14, TTech 18
Charles Davis: WVU 14, TTech 18
John Werner: WVU 14, TTech 17
Harold Gutmann: WVU 11, TTech 17

This. In a perfect world the "better team" would win every time. But if some 9-0 team were to get upset by a 2-7 team, do you REALLY think that means the 2-7 team is better?

  • Example: OSU gave up 490 yards and barely beat Indiana 49-52, yet we are ranked 7th in the AP poll

  • One game doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things but I don't understand in what way wvu should be higher.

If they beat the said 9-0 team as bad as Texas Tech beat WVU then I would have to say yes.

If it was a 3 point game I would agree with you. Texas Tech beat the fvck out of WVU.

  • Its not like tech is a 4 loss team. They are a 1 loss team. Same as WV and spanked them pretty bad head to head.

This is especially true if the 1 game was played at home like it was for Texas Tech. Does anybody believe Texas Tech would have beaten West Virginia if the game was played in Morgantown? I do not

I don't consider a home field advantage to typically be 35 points.

I don't think any West Virginia fan would agree with that idiotic statement. Auburn fans hate to see Tubby have success without them.
